Charles Manson was quite evil and it is warm where he is now. It would be hard to argue that he was sane as this word is usually understood, but legally he was sane within the definition of the McNaughton rules. He knew what he was doing and he knew that what he was doing was wrong.

David Cassidy Dies at 67
David Cassidy has died, his family tells PEOPLE in an exclusive statement. “On behalf of the entire Cassidy family, it is with great sadness that we announce the passing of our father, our uncle, and our dear brother, David Cassidy,” his family said in a statement Tuesday. “David died surrounded by those he loved, with joy in his heart and free from the pain that had gripped him for so long. Thank you for the abundance and support you have shown him these many years.” The actor, widely known for his starring role as Keith Partridge on the 1970s series The Partridge Family, died from organ failure Tuesday in Fort Lauderdale, Florida. He was 67. The actor had been in intensive care since he was hospitalized for liver and kidney failure last week. Cassidy publicly admitted his struggle with alcohol abuse in 2008. He also battled substance abuse issues, which involved a stint in rehab in 2014 — but in his final days, his family dropped everything to be by his side. Details: http://people.com/tv/david-cassidy-dead/ I guess this news was expected, but it's still sad all the same. RIP

He had just got work himself about 2002/3.... in "New Tricks", which was a blockbuster for BBC around the world and a template for the many US copies of 'cold case' ~ 'elder stars' etc. His agent hinted that it was a BBC exclusivity clause ~ meaning, if true, he couldn't work, exhibit elsewhere for the duration of the series (repeats incl). That it went on for 10 years or more, may have changed some clauses later on. BUT ~ I doubt very much that an equally struggling actor, would have the power...ANY power.... to refuse royalties for himself or anyone else, fellow actor, Director, Writers That doesn't happen outside of Tabloids Rodney Bewes I've loved...ever since seeing him dance down the steps with Tom Courteny in "Billy Liar" He cornered 'sanguine' ~ imo May he Rest In Peace now, and his loved ones have short grief. |

David Cassidy (1950 - 2017)
David Cassidy, '70s teen heartthrob, dies at age 67.
David Cassidy, who came to fame as a '70s teen heartthrob and lead singer on "The Partridge Family," has died, according to his publicist Jo-Ann Geffen. The singer-actor had recently been admitted to the intensive care unit of a Fort Lauderdale, Florida, area hospital. Cassidy was in critical condition and suffering from organ failure before his death Tuesday, Geffen said. "David died surrounded by those he loved, with joy in his heart and free from the pain that had gripped him for so long. Thank you for the abundance and support you have shown him these many years," she said. Cassidy's nephew, Jack Cassidy, tweeted about his uncle's death, saying "I can't help but thank God for the joy that he brought to countless millions of people." http://www.cnn.com/2017/11/21/entert...ies/index.html |

I also read the version mentioned regarding an off the cuff remark being made by Bewes regarding Bolam's pregnant wife being the cause of a rift between them. My further understanding is that it delayed the release of the both series (The Likely Lads and Whatever happened to....) on video / DVD. This is what was reported to me as the issue - not the TV repeats but the sales from other media. Bewes was reported be be "bitter" about it... I would imagine that under contract the release of DVD's (etc) could be controlled by the actors in as much that permission from all involved would be needed but in the case of TV repeats it may have been a matter for the production company - in this case the BBC. I suppose it comes down to who holds the copyright or intellectual property rights.
