Seconded.
And also wanted o say I saw your avatar subject, at the Bridgend in Poplar back in the late '80sb (well after M.O. days). I was also pleasantly surprised to see him do a virtuoso partial set with just guitar and drums at one of Clapton's Crossroads Festivals a few years back. |

Loved Groening since his Hell cartoons in the press years ago.
I like The Simpsons too, but refuse to contribute the nano-thinnest of dimes to the Murdoch empire. Nice to read of his FZ influence. |

Roxy: the Movie
This arrived a couple of days ago.
The track listing is different from the 'Roxy & Elsewhere" album (see first scan) I felt compelled to scan the cover as the excuse for the forty year delay, doesn't make bad reading. (see last two scans) There is material that was featured in other DVD releases, such as 'Dub Room Special" and "A Token of His Extreme", however the beginning and the end, from which the record cover was based, is totally new. Including Napolean Murphy Brock having to sing "Pygmy Twilight" (in the extras) while being "eroticised" by Pamela Miller, as per Frank's instruction, before she goes onto 'titillating' both drummers and Ruth. "Be Bop Tango" features a 'dance-a-thon' by members of the audience and 'Brenda' who Frank describes as "a professional harlot" who just finished entertaining the troops at Edwards Airforce Base. She is the bikini clad model on the original album release. However if your expecting 'erotica', you're missing the point. Tom Fowler (bass) appears to be chewing on a cigar, throughout, but is only seen to exhale once. Oddly he appears, sans cigar in the second scan above. Could be politically correct photo shop. Unfortunately it doesn't contain "Village of the Sun" and some performances may differ from those on the record.. |

A very interesting read, thanks for posting a legible version of those sleeve notes (are they still called that?). And trust Frank to employ the famous groupies of the day to try to distract his band during live shows. I can't think of anyone else who'd do that.
The disc portraits are very reminiscent of Robert Crumb's work, but I couldn't see any mention of his name in the readable credits. It'd be entirely fitting if they were, and Crumb was so prolific they might have appeared at some time in the past - oh God, 50 years. But if not, in the style of is just as good and probably safe from the sometimes litigious Crumb. |
