Just streamed ,
A now down on his luck actor many years before once known for playing robotic truth eyed British detective Mindhorn (Before believing his own hype and disappearing completely up his own bottom). Finally gets another acting job. Only it`s one where he has to work alongside the actual police playing that very same character. To catch a serial killer who will only speak to Mindhorn, whom he believes to be a real person. This well observed comedy stars Julian Barratt (The one who came up with all the funny ideas in the Mighty Boosh tv show) and he`s typically terrific in this. Ably supported by a similarly committed cast.

National Lampoon's Vegas Vacation - 1997
This time, the Griswolds visit Las Vegas. Clark immediately goes to the blackjack table and starts blowing all his money, continually encouraged to spend more and more by a taunting dealer, Marty (Wallace Shawn). Ellen Griswold (Beverly D'Angelo) becomes smitten with the lounge singer Wayne Newton (playing himself), who invites her to sing onstage with him. Their son Rusty (Ethan Embry) is incredibly lucky playing dice, and he is virtually adopted by a family of gangsters who see him as their meal ticket. Daughter Audrey (Marisol Nichols) gets hooked up with her wild cousin Vickie (Shae D'Lyn), who takes her to sleazy dance clubs. White-trash cousin Eddie (Randy Quaid), who lives on a former A-bomb test site in the nearby desert, also gets involved with the capers. Definitely not the best of the series. The film has its moments but overall it's most of the time pretty unfunny. Randy Quaid's great though. http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0120434/

The Courtship of Eddie's Father (1963)
with Glenn Ford, Shirley Jones, and Ronny (Opie Taylor) Howard.
Ford plays a recent widower who's son, Howard, tries to hook him up with the neighbor lady across the hall, Jones. a feel good movie sporting a cast of beautiful women. like Jones, Stella Stevens, Dina Merrill, and a far too brief 5 second appearance by Lee Meriwether. |

This is one of the Netflix movies I watched today. The 2016 production of Marvel's Doctor Strange based on the comic book. I used to get the Doctor Strange comic book way back in 1968-1970. It was quite good. This movie though I did not like. Though it was a box office success and won some awards for Special digital Visual effects I thought there was just way too much visual effects. There seemed to be effects throughout the movie. It was an onslaught on my eyes. When a movie has this many visual effects there is little time for character development. I also did not like the actor that played Doctor Strange. It is true that this movie introduces the character and he is quite young, but I remember him as being an older man in the comic book of the late 1960's. |

xXx The Return Of Xander Cage - 2017
Extreme athlete turned government operative Xander Cage (Vin Diesel) comes out of self-imposed exile, thought to be long dead, and is set on a collision course with deadly alpha warrior Xiang (Donnie Yen) and his team in a race to recover a sinister and seemingly unstoppable weapon known as Pandora's Box. Recruiting an all-new group of thrill-seeking cohorts, Xander finds himself enmeshed in a deadly conspiracy that points to collusion at the highest levels of world governments. It's probably the worst piece of shit I've seen in a while. Stupid characters all full of 'emselves, stupid screenplay, sutpid cliches, stupid everything. But it's kinda fun to watch in its own stupidity. But stilll, this is a total mess who acts as a mirror of modern so-called entertainment cinema. http://www.imdb.com/title/tt1293847/
