It's worth noting that Depositfiles often presents pop-ups and such based upon geographical region. I've had "discussions" with various members who would see things when they accessed my DepositFiles links that I had no clue about.

Second that, I have noticed that on IE9 DFiles attempts to download a .JS (Java Script) file by default most (but not all) times. But if I copy/paste the link over into Chrome then it works as required, i.e. the .AVI or .MPG file (or similar) is scheduled for download correctly.

Adobe products such as Flash, Reader and Acrobat are notorious for the security weaknesses in them which can be exploited. However it is not entirely practical to always do without them. Certainly there was a weakness in Flash which made the news just last week and Adobe rushed out an 'emergency fix' - so that definitely needs applying.

Pop up alerts for this are caused in multiple ways beyond actually needing to update - malware mimicking the product update - been around for many years either when visiting a malicious phishing site or just being online if you are already infected - if using a script blocker initially - streaming sites will say you need to update until you allow the sites address and refresh the page Recently flash appears to be getting attacked every 2nd month with new vulnerabilities 1145 alerts to date for adobe products http://cve.mitre.org/cgi-bin/cvekey....ord=adobe+fash http://helpx.adobe.com/au/security.html If your using FF going into tools/add-ons/plugins daily and checking manually via the mozilla page - link above plugins on left - is smart rather than relying on automatic updates which can easily be nobbled https://www.mozilla.org/en-US/plugincheck/ Last edited by buttsie; January 28th, 2015 at 10:18 PM.. Some Depositfiles from for example member "CCCZZ" do not open on Explorer but do so on Firefox.
I suspect that this is becasue Firefox does not function with my virus blocker - in other words there may be vulnerablity on Depositfile downloads. Javasetup.exe is the likely suspect I reckon as I often get download warnings on Deopistfile downloads on Explorer. Perhaps when Depostfile doesnt open at all that is another form of a virus block by blocking software? |

Having just ventured back to my depositfiles free account for the first time in ages
It looks like the culprit thats been playing havoc with the captchas and downloads is adblock plus - easylist - for what ever reason it was blocking both google , gstatic , captcha / recaptcha Disabling the filter via open blockable items and right click the green addresses and select disable filter eventually gained access Something to try rather than disabling ad-block plus completely |
