I read your post Jenny. Try reading mine. Also look up the word "minority"
in Websters when you have the time. Being as how Filefactory is the file
host used by the majority..........you've in one fell swoop of your keyboard,
deemed the majority of those that use Filefactory as a file host, as using
them for cash. Being as how Filefactory doesn't issue cash to Americans, I

I know where you're from so you're wrong there. Filefactory is not really a majority host here either.

As far as being offended, you are the one who feels that way. I never singled you or anyone else out specifically.

Filefactory was and still is a lousy host when it comes to downloading as a free user. That's not just my opinion.

I guess thems are the breaks, but if someone is genuinely struggling to download something I've uploaded, I try to provide compressed versions and offer alternative solutions.

Ah. How "wonderful" to see these eternal discussions about hosters and motives surface once again. Speaking for myself I always keep in mind that I get something for free and with jdownloader it's only a matter of time and patience.

As a former mod in the classic section I'm in no doubt over bob's generous contribution to the forum. And you don't get that many thanks being a "breadposter". Hosters come and go and change for better or worse. Not everyone likes 1fichier either but I will still use it because it suits my needs.

Oh the eternal argument.

Firstly can I thank bigbobnobody and Jenny for their contributions, and Jenny again for what I feel is fair and unbiased moderating.

Surely it is a matter of choice. Contributing posters have the right to use whatever host they choose, and downloader the right not to download from that host. I for one would like to get a couple of dozen files off here, and other sites (more of that later) but get so frustrated by the speed (or lack of it) the amount of pop ups and attempted pop ups, and perhaps most frustrating of all, getting most of the file and then the download fails. (As mentioned by Jenny)

It is clearly in the interests of those seeking money, to make a free download difficult, but I thank them anyway as this might be the only way to get a particular file. I hope that if someone has the patience to get the file, they will also share it again on a more friendly host.

I group hosts in three ways. Laughable, bearable and preferable. We all know which ones fit into each group, but for clarity on this particular thread Filefactory is in the middle group.

I do have a question, however. Some hosts are easier to use on here than on other sites. ff rg and df on some other sites are slower than on here. Is this something a user, or site can set, or is it simply down to the host? Does anybody have any idea?

On another site I use one host splits all files into a maximum chunk size of 100mb, and you need to wait 45-50 minutes between downloads, but they never fail. I find this acceptable and bearable.

In summary, all contributions are welcome, but those on friendly hosts are especially welcome.

Speed and access comes down to the individual server any file is on

You can have 2 files from the 2 hosts - 1 you cant access the other downloads straight away

The biggest issue with rewards hosts versus that dont is how many of its members
excessively link dump

The more links about = higher potential for server stress and
aborted downloads or inaccessible files occur.

While i havent experienced many failed downloads - files not being accessible countdowns/captchas going around in a loop to keep us free users off their servers does occur occasionally - rapidgator & filefactory a few times of late

Excessive usage - up or down since 2012- has always had a negative effect

Ya know.........I've been a member for about 8 years now give or take a month
here and there, and from the moment I joined, every other post seemed to
be about which file host a poster used or didn't use. At the time.......I didn't
really know what the hell they were talking about, but found out soon enough
when I began sharing all the recorded Playboy stuff I'd had and not been seen
before..........or at least since it had aired. Back then..........which is not so
different from now........you were a sonuvabitch which ever file host you chose.
Choose the 1 that is easy to download for everyone, but a pain in the ass to
keep files on, and you get a cussing for files being dead. No big deal when
you've only shared a handful of files. A frigging nightmare, and non stop job
when you've shared as much stuff as I have. I don't like scary movies or night-
mares, and this was never a job for me, so I chose the file host that was best
for me.

Jenny did say that a few of my posts may have been reported as having dead
links..........but no one ever contacted me about them........which is the proper
thing to do I'd say. Overall though.......I stand by what I said about Filefactory
being best for me, with it's file retention rate. Of course to keep the 25,000+
links I've posted alive, I've had to bear the burden of keeping a Premium account
myself, as there's not a file host that's ever existed, that would store in excess
of 5 terabytes for free.

I once said long ago, that after the horse manure that Rapidshare pulled,
that this would be the last file host I'd ever use.........but if anyone knows
of a File Host willing to store these above mentioned 5 TB of files for free......
I'll change ever dadgum one of them.

Alas the bastards at RS drew people in and sucker punched them horribly
The worst i heard was 13TB on a free account which would have cost a small fortune to keep alive.

The question that needs answering is with so much material how has your 5TB File factory account remained open if files have been removed?

Is FF one of the last hosts that is still doing what RS ,Mega & Mediafire used to do
DMCA notice received - content removed account left open?

Its this sort of behaviour by hosts that you wont read anywhere on their sites

Everyone seems to be moving towards this - first rewards host (free upgrades/cash)

I still think there are far too many of us that havent worked out that good hosts are down to how many premium memberships are bought regardless of whether their paying cash / rewards or not.

RS , MU & mediafire withe parallel downloads at premium speeds for free downloaders only because they had mainstream premium members that numbered in the tens of millions...

MU is on the record as saying

5 years premium memberships = 150million
advertising revenue = 30million

never to be repeated I'd suggest
