although this thread is ancient i will add some other programs for users
there is a program called moviejoiner (rmj) that works in trail mode (5 files at a time, just need to repeat join with bigger joined files) it works with wmv, asf, avi, mpg,rm ect theres also moyea flv editor lite for joining flv files but like others have said joining files together correctly requires that the framerate, bitrate, audio and resolution are all the same this is where a program like mediaencoder comes in .... you would need to convert all your files to the same specifications, then join them |

Do you have a link to the mediaencoder software or are you talking about the Microsoft product?
Thx. Quote:

How To Join Movie Clips (not HJSplit)
http://www.vintage-erotica-forum.com...ts-80s90s.html
Post # 536 has 2 files that are this "m4v" format (not sure if it's a derivative of MPEG4 or MP4 or what). But they aren't named "001" and "002" so how would you join them ? I renamed them with those suffixes, but it slightly changed the icons associated with them and when I used HJSPLIT, it SEEMED to work -- I created a file of about 250 mbytes (1st section is about 48 megs, 2nd is 201 megs, so that's about right) but it was a copy of only the 1st section, lasting 1 1/2 minutes !! Why would it show as being 250 megabytes in size if in reality its just the 48 megabyte 1st section lasting under 2 minutes ? More importantly, how can I join these things ? Renaming them seems to screw it up. Last edited by PenthouseFan; May 18th, 2011 at 03:54 PM.. |

Just had a look, it's two different videos playable separately they're not meant to be joined.

I've never used it but that Windows Movie Maker seems to edit (shorten) movies, isn't there a function on that or another freeware program that lets you edit by LENGTHENING or combining different videos, if they have the same format (WMV, m4v, etc) ? |

File conversion is a whole new ball game,if you joined them it wouldn't look right anyway as they are not consecutive scenes. Easiest way would be to open a new folder put both files in that, then most players would just move onto the next file.

His link must be wrong. Think he means this post here
http://www.vintage-erotica-forum.com...&postcount=571 which looks like a hjsplit deal to me. "m4v" - you can play them with the VLC Media Player. It's got all the codecs embedded plus it plays broken files as well.
