The ones that really get me are the increasing number of charity appeals. Of course most charities do good work, but do we really want them constantly shoving out their begging bowls during our leisure time ??

A good example was the Sally Army asking for about 30 quid so they could provide Christmas dinners for the homeless. Fair enough, but the bloody ads were still running in the middle of January !!!

To expand the idea a bit - non-specific annoyances in ads.

-Chemicals you've never heard of in beauty products
"Now with new fictionite to shrink the water molecules in your skin contravening the laws of physics & creating a tiny quantum singularity to just suck the ugly away"

-Claims by a "real person" who is obviously an out-of-work actor (& after the ad you realise why they're out-of-work)

-All men are whining babies at the first sign of a cold.
(when they're healthy they're just idiots)

-All women are obsessed with bingo & beauty products when they're not having orgasms over chocolate.

-In any group of more than 3 women in a public place the conversation will eventually turn to the subject of bowel problems.

-If the advert is for a training course a shop assistant will walk straight into a job as an IT consultant even though they have no experience & the qualification isn't recognised by any official body.

-Ant & Dec

-Your children will love you even more if you give them fruit instead of chocolate.

-At the first appearance of a stain on your favourite shirt a strange woman will appear with detergent suggestions.

-Christmas starts on November 6th.

Just imagine this guy being a sponsor to a network show you're trying to watch and have this repeated every 10 minutes. For anyone feeling ill after watching it, remember, you were warned.

Ok here's one from 1981 that is not so much annoying, but one that shouts "Here guys take my money and go easy on my knee caps". Looks as dodgy as they come

Wagnerian costumes, but they don't have the wit to do a Wagner pastiche, which for any kind of a musician would be fairly easy, I'd have thought.

That is another thing about adverts, though: they are memorable not because of any intrinsic merit, but because they're repeated a lot; anything's memorable if you see it often enough.

I've been watching a lot of video tapes from around 20 years ago. It is rare that I remember any advert that I see on there; and they are all so dated - much more so than the films they break up.

So many crap adverts …. so little time to list them all. But here are a few that spring immediately to mind that are currently plaguing UK television viewers on a regular basis:

"Here come the girls" (Boots)

"Go Compare" (insurance comparison site)

Jamie Oliver (Sainsbury's)

"Lollipop Lollipop, oh Lolli-Lollipop" (annoying song advertising fuck knows what)

Sheila's Wheels (women-only car insurance)

Any ad for furniture / carpet stores
