I'm shocked, shocked I tell you, that this thread isn't any higher than it is. I found it on page two!

Wait, no... No I'm not. It was within the top ten to fifteen threads on page one every time I came here all last year. I'm glad, glad I tell you! I found this thread on page two!

Sorry I ruined it for the rest of you.

This is the depressing thing about this thread. That it doesn't matter who you are, or the obstacles you overcome, or what greatness you achieve in your chosen field, we all end up drooling in god's waiting room

I would politely disagree and say that yes, we all will die but that isn't the point.

Rather it's what we do while we have the time....while we are alive.

I pray that I die smiling because of all the crazy shit I did. And because of all the smiles and laughs I brought to the faces of those I knew. Because of the the many things I did to help others who weren't able to help themselves.

It isn't what you take from life but what you give....what you leave after you're gone.

Default Booker winner David Storey dies at 83

This Sporting Life author David Storey has died at the age of 83. His much-lauded 1960 debut novel was based on his experiences as a professional rugby league player and was made into a film three years later. Storey went on to win the 1976 Booker Prize for family drama Saville. A spokesman for his four children said: "Dad died peacefully with his family around him. He gave and inspired great love, drew us out and showed us how the world really is." Richard Harris and Rachel Roberts were both nominated for Oscars for starring in the big screen version of This Sporting Life. Storey's other novels included Flight Into Camden and Passmore and the plays The Restoration of Arnold Middleton, The Contractor, Home and The Changing Room. Storey's play Home was made into a film starring Sir John Gielgud and Sir Ralph Richardson, while In Celebration was filmed with Alan Bates and Brian Cox. Storey, who grew up in Wakefield, West Yorkshire, was also a talented artist who had an exhibition at the Hepworth Gallery last summer. Storey's wife Barbara Hamilton died in 2015.

Default SA anti-apartheid leader Kathrada dies

Veteran South African anti-apartheid activist Ahmed Kathrada has died aged 87, his foundation says. It says Mr Kathrada passed away peacefully in a Johannesburg hospital "after a short period of illness, following surgery to the brain". Along with Nelson Mandela, Mr Kathrada was among eight African National Congress activists sentenced to life imprisonment in 1964. They were convicted of trying to overthrow the apartheid government. Mr Kathrada spent 26 years in prison, 18 of which were on the notorious Robben Island. He was released in 1989, and President Mandela later persuaded him to join him in government. Ahmed Kathrada left parliament in 1999, but remained active in politics, criticising the recent direction of the ANC and calling on President Jacob Zuma to resign.
