England to bat all day today (at least that is the plan)
Its to allow England to acclimatize had the tour been in Pakistan they would have had two three day matches.

Ok. But surely you get better acclimatisation by playing a longer, meaningful, game ??

Come the tests, over five days, that lack of time in the field could play a significant role.

As for today's cricket so far....

Both Hales and Moeen open the batting.

Both Hales and Moeen fail.

So Moeen bats a second time having scored 7 first time around....

Second time, he is out for 12.

Do not worry Moeen, you shall open the batting for the first test

Might be an idea if Cook just opened on his own as we seem to have a major problem at the other end.

Pakistan batting in the 1st test v England at Abu Dhabi, after winning the toss. 165 for 1 off 48 overs. Masood bowled by Anderson for 2 in the 3rd over. Hafeez on 95 and Malik on 67. Going to be a long day for the English bowlers.

Hafeez dropped by Bell when he had scored seven, Broad thought he had a wicket but it was a no ball, we certainly know who to make life doubly difficult.

Rashid looks woefull, 58 off ten, doubt cook will throw the ball to him again today.

Younis Khan (37) in 102nd test has become Pakistan's all-time leading test run scorer on day one of the first test against England at Abu Dhabi. When he reached 21 in he passed Javed Miandad's total net runs of 8,832 which was completed in 1993.

The first day's attendance achieved an all time low. The commentators could actually count the number of spectators. At the start just 54 were counted. It did rise to a couple of hundred by the close. Michael Vaughan argues that these fixtures should be moved to Australia.

'Encouraging' to see England revert to form.

During the Ashes they caught practically everything. Today, Bell puts two down and, as stated, when they do catch one it is off a no-ball.

Even the catch behind, which was eventually given was suspicious.

286-4 at the close. If Pakistan get 400 I would say game over.

Looking ominous.

Pakistan 389-4. 500 by tea or shortly after ? Tricky late session for England.
