By coincidence, I recently watched episode 1 of "Black Mirror", in which a British PM is obliged to commit a carnal act which is neither kosher nor halal. Its a story line which in some ways seems quite close to the allegation -- although in the show, its certainly not "boys having fun".

So I was wondering-- is there any suggestion that the "Black Mirror" writers were alluding to this incident? The air date was December 2011; I don't think there had been any public allegations at that time-- but presumably there might have been stories.

Charlie Brooker, who wrote the 'Black Mirror' episode was interviewed in the Guardian when the pig story broke, and denies any prior knowledge:

“The first question people were asking me was, Did I know anything about it? And the answer is no, absolutely not. I probably wouldn’t have bothered writing an episode of a fictional comedy-drama if I’d known. I’d have been running around screaming it into traffic. It’s a complete coincidence, albeit a quite bizarre one.”

As Ian Hislop said last night, the sort of people who scream that the Daily Mail is incapable of telling the truth are the same ones who believe this the most.

Thanks. An example which is testimony to the degree to which, seen retrospectively, you can find all sorts of coincidences which are nothing more . . .

An attractive, young, Russian couple bought my condo 13 years ago. I never questioned their political loyalties (if that was your drift) back then. Well, my wife and I ran into them in one of our favorite restaurants recently. We decided to share the table and have dinner together. They had since sold the condo, a penthouse suite in a desirable area in a US Mid-Atlantic state and moved to a single family home in a nearby affluent neighborhood. The gentleman husband runs a successful software company, now employing 120 US citizens. His wife, Marina, runs the house and takes care of their 3 children, whom she proudly announced are certified Americanized and God-fearing. She also mentioned to us their participation in many Christian church-based philanthropic activities.

On our way home, my wife and I rejoiced and thanked God.

I can only hope that the same type of souls descend into your neck of the woods.
