Stupid movie cliches and impossibilities

Cop shows where the policeman dips his finger into an unknown white powder and dabs it on his tongue in order to check if it is drugs. This has got to be one of the stupidest things to do in reality..

It's always made me chuckle when somebody chops through a steel-wired armoured cable, or a mains electrical board with an axe they've just happened to find.
Speaking as an ex-electrical engineer this is and always was dangerous in the extreme. In the (usually some dumb action movie) when the hero/villain does the chopping there's the obligatory firework display, but in the 'world' when you try that sort of thing; it goes off like a f*****g bomb and will blow your face, arms and legs clean off! Steel and molton copper are a bad combination.

I've always got a laugh out of how one cowboy bullet kills twenty Indians, or one blaster shot kills twenty stormtroopers (to modernize it).

My cliche dislike is war flicks - the older war flicks. Especially ones that show THE SAME SHIP or the SAME AIRPLANE again and again. Example - Midway - they showed footage of aircraft that were definitely not carrier-borne aircraft, like the 'Vindicator' which was actually flown by the Marines off the island of Midway.
That is just an example.

you know, come to think of it, I don't think I've ever seen a plaly-by-play at a high school football game, or an announcer at a high school basketball game...

That is just an example.

I think Vindicators were put on carriers during the battle of Midway, although you might want to check with some WW2 vets about it. But yea,,, War movies suffer from what your saying... like wrong rifle for the time period and similar things.

WWII movies from the 60's were notorious for using then current tanks in place of actual Shermans. Later ones use Soviet tanks from the 70's and 80's. And all of them show armor running side by side by side ten feet apart when they actually would keep a hundred yards or more separation.
