The Eagle, Rick Ransom and various Superman DC comics. I wish I'd held onto them as quite a few became very collectable.

Only started buying comics in 2008 when I was already in high school.
As a kid I liked superheroes to a extent but mainly in cartoons. The 90s Spiderman tas especially. But also Batman & Superman Tas. Only exceptions were when I was on vacation in Houston there was a Bedrock comics near my Grandmothers that I would go every trip to look for Godzilla comics & Spider Man comics featuring my specific favorite villains. |

Gaston Lagaffe
Gaston Lagaffe was a anti-hero created by the Belgian author Franquin.
After some researches I found that his name in English was Goomer Goof. He was a very famous character in France, Belgium and Switzerland. I don't know if you already read some books about him in your language or in French. This anti-hero is a nice guy who doesn't really like to work in his job, but he's a crazy handyman. Here is a little story in English. Here are the characters in English. |

Of course, I remember Gaston Lagaffe.
My favorite comics are from France and Belgium. Artists like Enki Bilal, Jean Giraud Moebius, Philippe Druillet, Jacques Tardi, Juan Gimenez or François Schuiten are the true masters of the comics world for me. As stated in a previous post, the American superhero concept never appealed to me. Though I'd spent some time on reading Batman, Spiderman and Superman comics in childhood, they became too silly by the time I was about 12. I stopped reading comics altogether and several years would pass until I began to discover the French and Belgian guys. Examples of the art of Moebius, Bilal and the rest of my favorites can be found in the science-fiction art thread I started a while ago. I have just recently acquired an issue of François Schuiten's Les Cités obscures (Cities of the Fantastic) series, started by Schuiten and his writer friend Benoît Peeters in the early 1980s. Schuiten was born into a family of architects and much of his art deals with architecture and urbanism. Now the issue I was able to get my hands on is La fièvre d'Urbicande (Fever in Urbicand) from 1985 in which Schuiten draws a lot of inspiration from the architects Hugh Ferriss (whose art was a major influence on Batman's Gotham City) and Étienne-Louis Boullée. |

I still have boxes and boxes of old Marvel comics, some priced at .10¢ and .15¢. Those were the good ol days. That's also when I noticed some of the superheroines were pretty sexy too [like She-hulk, Spiderwoman, Sue Storm, Asgardian Goddesses]!

For me personally , it was Warlord , then Battle ( by Pat Mills )
then Action , then 2000ad - then I dropped comics in mid 1980's as I had to work and maintain girlfriends ,,, also the quality dropped a bit but I loved Hellman of Hammer Force , Strontium Dog , Judge Dredd and Darkie's Mob , D-Day Dawson to name a few .. I never really read more than a couple of issues of USA Super Hero Comics ( despite the hype , they have never sold very well in the UK -and I can't stand them ) I re-subscribed to 2000ad in 2012 ( after DREDD Film ) and have never looked back - one tip if any USA based guys want a fresh take on Comics try Judge Dredd , Rogue Trooper , Jaegir or Strontium Dog by Rebellion Publishing ( get a single Case File Volume 1 on Amazon - just to dip your toe in the water - and see if you like the taste ) |

Batman & Wonder Woman will be getting a 6 issue team up mini series.
Massive fan of Liam Sharp who did half of the art on Wonder Woman Rebirth so glad he is back to draw this. Diana interacting with Irish/Celtic mythology is extremely intriguing. https://www.bleedingcool.com/2017/11...-wonder-woman/ |
