A couple of examples:

Just tested them out and finally figured out the drop down menu is the size of the screen you wish to view the image on - not the thumbnail size - it makes a 180x thumbnail or smaller

Why were they offering premium membership - Ad revenue alone isnt sustainable -

I second this proposal, and post here a link there, please.

Nearly all of my pics (10,000s) posted the past ten years were stored on ImageBam. It will be impossible to reupload all of them.

RIP IB, it was fun while it lasted.

Request to the Mod staff:
Please don't remove dead posts for the next few months. Otherwise it would be impossible to reupload lost pics to an alternative image host - if we ever find a similar (previously) reliable one .

Flo is also the big honcho/tech for imgbox too.

As for the reason of their shutting down ... I recently read a post, which I believe was by a Mod, that one of the reasons is because they are not showing a profit.

I posted and suggested that image hosts start requiring paid memberships. I would be willing, as I imagine others would too, to pay a nominal yearly fee of perhaps $15-$20 if that would keep them afloat and prevent all the chaos their shutting down is going to cause. Considering how many images one would upload and post in one year's time that is actually a reasonable fee.

What gripes me is that the prick bastards are only providing 3 weeks to rescue what it has taken most of us many years to post. My limited computer skills get me by for normal uploading and posting here on the forum, but when it comes to re-upping, rescuing, and transferring files/images I am still in the Stone Age ... and so I am going to lose many thousands of posts!

how about we are allowed to state at the end of each of the threads

please like all the posts from page 1 to the latest page "

this would be a HUGE incentive to me ,and I suspect others if people
who had never ' liked ' posts on the older threads - we able to do this
to thank people , and drive up the rating numbers on each posting

For those who want to save images from their accounts on imagebam & imgbox, I noticed earlier that when I log in to imagebam & click on my images or my galleries nothing shows, i.e. one can't seem to access via login content stored there, so one may have to work backwards from thumb-links/galleries.

In the case of imgbox that does not apply--i.e. logging in one still can see/access one's images & galleries.

That sounds great in theory, cuz but does nothing to solve the issue of potential DMCA removals. I'd have no problem paying a few bucks, but I'm not going to pay a few bucks if my goods are still possibly going to end up in the "bit bucket".

A lot of the sets I post are anywhere from 500MB-1GB, or more. I don't want to see any of my (or anyone else's for that matter) images thrown away, but more importantly, I'm not going to pay them to do it.

Did you delete your account? I am salvaging what I can from IB and get my galleries and pics to load. The My images and My galleries buttons still work for me at least.

It is just a thought but it could be seen as selfish one. I have already re-upped several hundred posts over the last 24 hours since I heard about the Imagebam issue. I have done that without seeking a single extra thanks. We have a window of just under a month before they pull the plugs so delaying re-upping just to get a few thanks is an odd concept, this site is about sharing, personally I think touting for thanks is a little seedy.
