5 Games............

Bayern 1 Man Utd 2
Any Utd fan will have this game in top 5, from the depths of despair to sheer delight in 2 minutes.

Man Utd 0 Man City 1
(April 1974)
What!! You may say a United fan choosing this game?? I was a young kid, stood in the Stretford Paddock with my dad, the atmosphere was unbelievable, scarves being burnt, the anger. I will never forget the pain I felt at that match, which makes every trophy we've won since all the more special.

Man Utd 2 Liverpool 1 1977 FA Cup Final

The first major trophy United won, that I can remember, second goal shot by Jimmy Greenhoff, deflected of Lou Macari's chest, that was the first time I knew what it was like to support a winning team.

Man Utd 2 Sheff Wed 1
The game that first gave us the term 'Fergie time', United within touching distance of winning the League for the first tme in 25 years, 1-0 down for most of the game, then in the 7 minutes injury time, Steve Bruce scored 2 headers. Brian Kidd on the pitch

Leeds 0 Sunderland 1 FA Cup Final

The unbeatable Leeds beaten by the complete underdogs, Jim Montgomery's double save, and the reason why we all love the FA Cup.

P.S> what a great idea footstep

It would be worth the trip to Germany to see that one though. Definitely top 5.

I can't remember many sides scoring 10 goals, although there was that story about a pub team from Wolverhampton who organised a trip to Germany and ended up playing Hamburg SV, who thought they were playing Wolverhampton Wanderers.
Hamburg won 21-0.

Stoke City 3 - 1 Man. City.

My favourite ever game. It was at the old Victoria Ground, it was Boxing Day 1988. Man City took the lead, but we came back and hammered them. It was the days of inflatables, and every Man City fan had a banana. 2nd half we just sang 'where's yer nanas gone'. The previous Boxing Day was exactly the same fixture and we lost 3-1. This was payback and it was amazing.

England 4 - 1 Holland.

Euro champs. As has been mentioned in this thread England have never played better. Best I've seen. We'd have beaten the world on that day.

Stoke 7 - 2 Leeds.

86/87 Season. Amazing win, great mental in the Boothen End.

Cameroon 2 - 3 England.

We were losing in this game, and I predicted we'd win. I was watching it in a pub with my mates. We won, we got drunk. We were in the semis. Happy days.

Stoke 2 - 1 Arsenal.

Nov. 2008. We were expected to get beat 20 - 0. Arsenal just weren't up for it. Great game, last score to be displayed on our old scoreboard before we got a big screen.

This thread is so brilliant 'cos nearly every one that posts has the same passion about their own team as I do about mine. There's very few 'plastic' fans here. We've all been there and watched the highs and lows, all been in the crowd and experienced that communal cheer and that communal heartbreak.

Best non-nudey pic thread on the board.

Cheers,
Dumbassgo.

The irony of life mate; one's nightmare is another fella's joy. Like that 3-3 Germany VS France for instance.

Again there must be a ton of disappointing moments in our memories - mainly injuries I would think plus bad ref decisions.

One such moment was definitely the hand of 'God' - though he did go past Shilton in the next goal. Definitely in the history of football that game, innit?

Five worst games - unfortunately, there are more than I care to remember!

1. Walsall 0-7 Chelsea. This happened back in the old days of Division 2. Lousy game, and embarrassingly the announcer blared over the tannoy "videos of this game will soon be available." It probably sold out to the Chelsea supporters (like when Walsall beat Macclesfield 7-0 in the FA Cup - Macclesfield have never sold so many copies of a match video before ).

2. Walsall 0-3 Notts County. Boxing Day this season. It's the worst performance I've seen a Walsall side put out - no committment, couldn't pass to each other, hardly any shots; Hutchings should have been sacked after this monstrosity of a "performance", instead of later on. It was worse than the Chelsea game above; we were rubbish, but at least the team in those days gave it a go.

3. England 1-1 Germany (England lost on penalties). Euro 96 at Wembley. Watched on telly (even my mom didn't complain about watching this). Completely deflated afterwards.

4. Manchester City 1-1 Walsall. I've never seen such a one sided game, especially in the second half. How on earth we didn't win it, I don't know. Mind you, we did have Michael Ricketts up front, who is one of the laziest strikers I've seen in a Walsall shirt. It was so one sided Joe Royle had to apologise to Ray Graydon after the match for taking a point.

5. Walsall 0-5 Sunderland. We were so bad that night that Danny Dichio scored a hat trick. Pretty much sums up the performance, really.
