I tend to get long-winded victor ~~ {when pizzled and un-supervised }, and although I wrote that post with a smile in my head, it wasn't meant as an attack, nor meant as a diatribe. Just a frustration at a combination of 'easy-marketing' and lazy journos...thick journos actually. I almost share your family intrigue re-Chelsea.btw. My partner's sister is a "big-arse" at Twickers....Treble-hyphenated-surname to ensure her place on the totem pole that is the class-ridden world down there. Just as bad as the LTA at Wimbledon. Anyway, on one of our freebies some years ago, at Twickenham {Rugby's Holy Ground to the innocent}, she proclaimed how long she and her 3rd husband had supported Chelsea and if you had to support a football club, Ken Bate's Chelsea was the epitome. "The Blues Rule London" she said. Then I went off on the "Blues" bit.... {as per previous}....that they are called "The Pensioners", with good reason etc ....we then had a beautiful snobbish silence and people started talking about the weather or horses or summat. I thought we were fireproof and mates/relatives and so on. Not so. My "sister-in-law" actually tore into me in a corridor about being drunk, {wasn't}...she'd never heard the term "Pensioners" in her life and had supported Chelsea for years ! Her 3rd was standing down the corridor and was supposed to be a hot-shot US lawyer, although he must've been about 80 at the time and 'Twickerbum' was late 30's. There you go. When we meet now, about once/twice a year I always ask her if she still supports 'The Pensioners'..I know how you feel Victor. And no malice was intended. No ruck saught. |

Love-In
Gary Rowett ~ ex-player ~ new Blues Manager
10 days, 4 training sessions - draws with the Championship joint leaders ~ Wolves away in his first match, after just one and half training sessions, when he had the younger players tweetering that their legs had gone. The older players knew when to shut up Two and a half training sessions later they beat the "Invincibles" ~ Watford the League leaders. Their first loss in about 9/10 matches. It is quite embarrassing reading posts from blokes offering to have his baby etc. Everyone is buying into V-Neck jerseys. Lee Clark went 12 months without a Home win and kept his job ~ because of the Blues' owner and provider of funds, being in prison, assetts frozen, he had to employ League 1 and 2 players with a cap at £3,500 per week With Zigic gone, the last of the big-earners ~ and his £60.000 per week wages...Blues are actually the lowest paying employers in the Championship. And all Lee Clark's freebies and League 1 & 2 players grounded the sympathy for him. "He can only work with what he has got" An ex-player, new mindset, different tactical delivery etc...has changed things, beyond the "new-manager-bounce". 4 Points from successive League Leaders With "rubbish low-paid" players ? Forest / Derby/ Cardiff all had a "new-manager-bounce" even if it was with lots of dosh. After 2 matches, and seeing the difference in the players, I truly can't believe the change. Let's hope GR loses a few, so we keep him. |

Last Words.....
This could be the most boring Cup Final in History Johan Cruyff ….Before Liverpool beat Alaves-{Spain} 5-4 in the Uefa Cup 2001 .. Mr Chairman, I think the second half will be a ‘damage limitation’ for your team. Michel Platini,Uefa President to Moores {Liverpool Chairman} when Milan led 3-0 in Champions League Final, 2005. Liverpool eventually won on penalties a.e.t. .. As long as he {Wenger} is here then I will be here ~ it’s as simple as that! Thiery Henry (Arsenal) April 2007. {He left for Barca 6 weeks later ~ Arsene stayed) .. Over my dead body will my son go to Chelsea. Old Trafford is the only place he wants to play. He would rather play in the Reserves at PSV than go to Chelsea. Hans Robben.{father of Arjen, who joined Chelsea 4 weeks later} 2004 .. It’s not many times you get a crack at the FA Cup. We’re at home, quarter finals, so why not? Steve Bruce, {Birmingham manager, before a Liverpool 7-0 win.2005.} Proves Bournemouth are better ! .. England fans will be talking about this 1-0 win for years. Clive Tyldesely. {ITV commentator, just before France scored twice to win.}2004. .. Zidane, Vierra ? They’re only names. We can win this match. Berti Vogts, {Scotland manager ~ France won 5-0}. 2002 ,, I’m waiting for Desailly. I excell myself against blacks. Hristo Stoichkov {Barcelona} Milan won 4-0 and Desailly scored.1994 |

APOLOGIES
Since I mentioned this EDIT problem to a Moderator...it has got worse.
I Edit and it repeats itself. But now, I can't even delete. Apologies for having to read Stoichkov twice. |

The greatest striker the world has ever seen will be on the bench at Villa Park at the weekend and could feature at some point in the latter stages, but don't expect too much as he will lack match practice.
The Snorter is back. Even more bad news as we expect to lose Winston Reid in the January window as he wants European football rather than the larger than life contracts we are putting in front of him. When he leaves we should have sufficient points to avoid the drop and parachute payments. Last Words... Don Revie "we have come for the draw" Spoken prior to a 7-0 defeat at Upton Park in the league cup. Apologies to pierrelm. Last edited by victor meldrew; November 5th, 2014 at 04:09 PM.. |
