I wonder how many of the ex-Southampton players want to go back
now that their sitting 2nd with the best defence in the league - 5 goals in 9 games

Beggars dis-belief that a team that sells 3 of its starting defenders is actually a better defensive team without them until you crunch the numbers.

Both their fullbacks now are older and more experienced while still being attacking

Default Birmingham City Nil 0-8 Bournemouth

Quote:

Birmingham City 0-8 Bournemouth

On Saturday Eddie Howe’s Bournemouth team racked up a record league win and inflicted a record home defeat on a Birmingham team reduced to 10 men after five minutes.

As well as scoring eight times, they also hit the post twice, once in each half, and missed at least four more chances to run up double figures.

There have been some dark days in the Blues’ troubled history of late, but few as dark as this.

Malcolm Crosby, Birmingham’s co-caretaker manager, apologised to the club’s supporters – and issued a stark warning to his players.

“It was embarrassing, the players became passive. The players have to get over it, or they won’t be in the game much longer.”

And although the Glazers are not popular with the bulk of supporters here's what we've won under them........

League titles.... 2006–07, 2007–08, 2008–09, 2010–11, 2012–13.

Champions league 2007–08

FIFA Club World Cup 2008

League Cup 2008–09, 2009–10.

Pretty poor uh?

Otherwise why the need for Paul Scholes to come out of retirement
or Ryan Giggs to play as long as he did?

Ask Fergie, again he raved about how much both players still had to offer, even though it was clear both had passed their sell-by dates.

Several years spent dropping into Europes lesser competition and not making the final

Care to elaborate on the specific 'years' and competion we have dropped into?

Paying off interest on the Glazers loan the main reason the squad was never properly rebuilt

WRONG. Fergie was going to retire the season City lifted the title, he expected to win that season. He couldn't bring himself to retire after losing to our biggest rivels so he hung on knowing that the team needed rebuilding.

Chris Smalling seems like a rabbit caught in the headlights and youngsters
Blackett & Mcnair more for the future I would have thought though LVG does love to give youth their chance.

As stated in a previous post, we have the Three Stooges and a kid in defence. Evens,Smalling, and Jones are not up to the job, we've seen the best of Rafael too. When we buy some quality defenders and a good defensive midfielder we should be back in contention.

I'd be genuinely interested in what MU supporters make of the current situation.

For me, SAF was a top class motivator, an indifferent tactician and seems to be in near complete denial about any responsibility for leaving old Trafford with the clearly barely adequate squad which Moyes found himself having to deal with. Moyes never looked like a real contender, but his biggest advocate was??

Is Lord Wrigley managing to convince the faithful up there that it's nothing to do with him - for my money, he got damn lucky with the last title success and managed (creditably, arguably his best achievement at OT) to motivate a so-so squad to overachieve whilst rivals were tripping themselves up. But does that exonerate him from some share of accountability?

btw Jones is going backwards at an alarming rate - he was one of the most promising young English players I'd seen a few years back, now he looks like the next Wes Brown.

I know it's been done to death, but this latest variation of Hitler / You Tube is quite witty.

This is Carson Yeung {money-laundering-power-behind-throne}as Hitler

and Bimingham City Nil 0 - 8 Bournemoiuth.
It's mainly for bluenoses, with some obscure References to lesser players from the Mighty Top Six.
e,g, Lee Clark put Novak {striker} in goal when GK was sent off 2 weeks ago .... Reducing strike force to 1 when chasing the game. And so on...

Gary Rowett leaves Burton to become new Birmingham manager

Quote:
Gary Rowett has left Burton to become Birmingham’s new manager.

Burton have announced the 40-year-old has been appointed as the replacement for the sacked Lee Clark at Blues and will take his backroom staff of Kevin Summerfield, Kevin Poole and Mark Sale with him to St Andrew’s.

He joins a side reeling from Saturday’s 8-0 home hammering by Bournemouth which left them second bottom in the Championship.
Rowett was the club’s first choice while Owen Coyle and Mike Phelan were also reportedly in the frame.

Good Luck my friend....you will need it.

A generally fair assessment. He failed as a tactician in his later years at OT, but at his peak he was pretty good.
Nail on head with Moyes, a decent and respected manager at a club with more modest expectations, totally out of his depth at OT.

After the last title win i asked one question (and it seems many other Utd supporters did the same) 'How on earth did we win the title with THAT squad?'

In fairness he didn't plan to stop for that last season, even though the side obviously needed a overhaul. In reality the squad should have had a radical upgrade after the 2010-11 title win, Garry Neville would still have been playing right up to the end of Fergies reign if he hadn't thrown the towel in.

In Neville's last season at OT every time he started along with Giggs and Scholes we lost.

I think Jones has had his day at OT, i've got to be honest and say that i was never impressed with him at the best of times, the lad needs to go.

Wes Brown was touted as a potential world-class defender, and he was living up to the hype, after all he had the formidable Jaap Stam as his mentor.
But Old Alex had a fall out with Stam, and sadly young Brownie seemed to go into reverse after Stam's departure, being injury prone compounded the problem.

I always thought the message should have been delivered at Old Trafford after being soundly beaten by Barca in the 2009 final, let alone 2011. That was the time to rebuild - never mind Messi, Xavi & Iniesta, the loud warning was the spectacle of Giggs (formerly MU's most consistent european performer I reckon) and Scholes being given the run around, yet they were staggeringly still the best options for years to come?
That's the price of an indifferent, or should I say over-rated and over-hyped PL? I get the impression that while domestic success looked likely, the temptation to hang on to the last vestiges of 'his' team and not risk too much in the transfer market was too persuasive.

In the meantime, how many successes have English clubs had in Europe..? One forgettable Chelski/MU final and Arsenal self-combusting in their sole appearance. The PL isn't the top quality we're being led to believe.

Like him or loathe him, only Jose looks likely to trouble the trophy scorers for a year or two - and even he's gone back to a 36 year old Drogba for back up and employing a 5 years past-his-best Terry, whilst cruising along along at the top of the domestic league.

No wonder idiots like Cellino amongst many others reckon English football is the best sideshow for their antics. Bah!
