England when they had capital punishment by hanging had Alfred Pierpoint (sic) who as learned gentleman Old Jud pointed out was a man who did the calculation precisely so it was efficient. I read something the other day about execution in America where a so called expert called the lethal injection as horrific as drowning - ah these people are on death row for a reason and if there death is extremely painful then sobeit. If the so called authorities aren't appalled by that method THEN FIND ONE THATS MORE EFFICIENT!!

Personally I can't see why can't we bring back the old fashioned firing squad - I would volunteer any day - I remember way back in about 2003 when the 9 Aussies got caught in Indonesia - they have since executed 2 of the ring leaders - If they paid my fare over there I would have made sure the other 7 joined them.

I admit as a 11 year old I was deeply affected by a line in The Assassination Bureau starring the late great Oliver Reed where he says "Human beings are the most expendable commodity on the planet".

Further to my previous post....
It seems that at one of the many post WW2 trials for war crimes, a German general who was hung by the Americans took 24 minutes to die.
This could be attributed to the standard drop of just five feet given to all condemned prisoners.

In the UK three Sundays had to elapse before an execution, so as an example, if someone was sentenced to death in a UK court today (04/09/20), they could be executed on the 21st of this month.

So what criteria should be applied to the means of execution? Should it be slow, painful and horrific as possible in the hope that it deters would be murders?
In that case the USA's gas chambers and gallows should be brought back into service, and the old Spanish garotte (death by strangulation)

Do you prefer a quick and humane (as possible) means of execution? Then adopt the British 'long drop' method of hanging, or use nitrogen gas in a gas chamber, this induces a state of euphoria in the condemned and they pass away very peacefully and relaxed.

life for life there is no deterant no respect for police when i was young you had respect for the law in uk death is an option for muder of police or treasion but they dont use it they should

Some of the Nuremburg executions were a farce. On at least one occasion, the hangman disappeared into the drop to finish off the condemned prisoner.
You would want Albert Pierrepoint in charge if condemned to hang.
