I'm sure they are good - and I'm not saying all BMW drivers are dickheads. But unfortunately dickheads seem to be attracted to BMWs. I call them (together with Mercs and Audis) AGCs - aggressive German cars. Always tailgating you on the motorway etc. I posted before about my favourite car (Dolly Sprint...when it worked!) but my best is by far and a way my current one. It is a humble, if high spec, diesel Renault Clio. Nearly 14 years old but totally reliable, goes/drives beautifully and costs next to nothing to run. Nothing ever goes wrong...two bulbs and a new battery...that's it. Bought it as a practical stop-gap for a travel-laden job I left five years ago but the brilliant little French lady is too fab to dump. |

Interesting Bloke57.
I am looking to buy a stop gap car and I see plenty of cheap Renault Clios on Auto Trader. I never thought they where reliable. Might be worth another look. Any other £500-£1000 banger suggestions anyone? |

Yep! - Had that reputation when I bought it new. Perhaps I've been lucky, made by a Frenchman after a very good lunch. But I do notice a lot of 2002/2004 Clios still running about happily. And if it does go wrong, it costs peanuts to fix.
