34 year old June
Too Young to Kiss 1951
"Van Johnson, a busy impresario, is besieged by hordes of wannabe concert stars, eager for their big break. One of them is June Allyson, a talented pianist... but she can't get in to see him. When she learns that Wainwright is auditioning young musicians for a children's concert tour, Cynthia dons braces and bobby sox and passes herself off as a child prodigy."

I couldn't figure out who the Marine is, there were 5 listed with that as a role but none of them looked quite like this guy.

I don't know who the actor is, but the uniform is a major or lt. col. of the USAAF, assigned to the 15th Air Force. Wings look like Navigator. No match in cast list, and I have never seen the movie.

Default Let's Rally 'Round Allyson

.

TWO SISTERS FROM BOSTON (1946)

I'd like to 'splain what I'm doing here. See, a few days ago, I put up a post on an actress whose credits included a 1974 TV movie called The Elevator, and one of the other actresses looked really pretty in the mature stage of life that she was in, and her name turned out to be Jean Allison, of whom I wrote, "Shockingly ignored on VEF, forcing me to whip up a quickie on her in the 'Vintage' thread."

I still haven't whipped that one out (my next VEF job it will be, I do declare), but then I realized the reason why I was outraged was because I mixed her up with the famous Hollywood actress this thread (begun by Member "Tornadoofsouls" almost a decade ago) has been devoted to.

June, whom I presume is at center, got
somewhat "naked" by 1946 standards,
in TWO SISTERS FROM BOSTON.

Then it dawned on me that as ignorant as I was about Jean Allison, I really didn't know that much about June Allyson either. Of course, I must have seen a number of the films she has been, but I couldn't visualize a face, or anything else for that matter.

June looks like a munchkin here, from
ALL GIRL REVUE (1940)

Her heyday was in the 1940s, where she came to be known as playing the girl-next-door types. Below, she's with Van Johnson (with whom she appeared in six films, and a good few TV shows; they played a husband and wife on a 1978 episode of The Love Boat, for example) in The Bride Goes Wild (1948), and notice how Arlene Dahl comes across as the doll, tempting good girl June's feller. (Ms. Allyson is reported to have stated, to explain her appeal, "...Women identify with me. And while men desire Cyd Charisse, they'd take me home to meet Mom."

She was a nice Jewish girl raised in the Bronx by her single mother, and it appears they had trying times. A falling tree limb is reported to have put her in a brace for years, but swimming served as therapeutic, eventually allowing her to embark on a dancing career. A Broadway show got her notice, and she got cast in a film, leading to an MGM contract.

Another MGM contract player was Van
Johnson, the reason why the pair appeared
together so often. Above, from THE BRIDE
GOES WILD (1948).

She married Dick Powell in 1945 (seen below, from 1950's The Reformer and the Redhead, one of three films the couple appeared in together; Powell also directed his wife in a 1956 film where she starred), and what seems to have been a rocky marriage (she had a tryst with Alan Ladd in between; one of her other conquests, as she wrote in her autobiography, was a youthful John F. Kennedy in what must have also been the 1950s) kept going until Powell's death from cancer in 1963. A slowdown in her career during that decade is noticeable in her filmography (what may the reason have been... depression?), but then June resumed her career in force come the 1970s, mostly on television.

One of her roles was in the cool Dan Curtis TV horror film, Curse of the Black Widow (1977), where one of two sisters played by Donna Mills and Patty Duke transforms herself into a giant spider to kill mainly men, and it's up to private dick Tony Franciosa to solve the mystery. She played against type (as a lesbian murderer) in her last Hollywood film, They Only Kill Their Masters (1972).

At sixty years of age, as she appeared in CURSE OF THE BLACK WIDOW.

On the thread, I was impressed with Member "The Wolf Man"'s generous collection of mostly close-ups in Post #3, and Member "Cuzzyman927" came through with his specialty, digging up the sexiest shots, in 2017's Post #6. Naturally, I appreciated this shot below of an over-the-knee spanking, courtesy of Member "Brielivingston" in his Post #11 from 2020, from the film, Too Young to Kiss (1951). (He has another photo of June, as you may see if you scroll up on this page, looking much like her very good friend Judy Garland, as "Dorothy" from The Wizard of Oz. The spanker is Van Johnson.)

No one may resist watching a nice OTK.

Ill tell you what really spurred me to put up this post. I noticed the last entry directly above by Member "Bolton." Now Bolton has been with Vintage Erotica Forum for a long time, and of his six reported posts, only three have survived. Previously, he had last spoken up over ten years ago.

I couldn't make heads or tails of what Bolton wrote (I suppose he had put up a photo? If so, since it has only been three months, why would it have disappeared..?), but given how this was such a rare time that Bolton blabbed, I put in my "Thanks." What I really wanted to do was to thank Members "Chnit," "Name-Hunter," "Spargel," and "TsunamiSD" for being kind enough to express their appreciation (especially for such an enigmatic contribution, or at least I was not able to figure it out). The last two members are, in particular, highly noble knights of the VEF kingdom.

EDIT: Turns out Bolton had responded to a mystery put forth by TsunamiSD, in his immediately preceding post.
