Wink Escort magazine shoot.

After viewing the Escort mag scans, (Ah! the memories) it struck me that I was falling into and I think a few others bracket on this here fine forum when everyone was commenting that "Why doesn't the girls dress like that nowadays?"

This is how a 'shoot' went:

On an Escort shoot the models were usually photographed by Eric Wilkins or Nick Gurgal (Top man and all round diamond geezer). The models were, before they arrived for the shoot were asked to bring some type of dress or blouse with a skirt when they came for the shoot. Once arrived they would be treated very nicely, offered wine and a very good make-up artist to do the business whilst the photographers set up the lighting equipment, camera's etc. After the girls were ready they would wander over to a big laundry basket full of suspenders, stockings, basques, waspies, where the girls and the photographers would come to some sort of agreement as to what to wear, generally the photographers tastes won in the end.
So if the model came with a shitty attitude, swearing and chewing gum with chipped or no nail-varnish she would'nt be asked back in the future.

A favourite expression of Mr Gurgal's when shooting the model and he wanted the model to change position was to say, "More face, more face", for some reason that always made me laugh..

After one shoot Mr Gurgal and myself was discussing The Rolling Stones, in particular Bill Wyman for some obscure reason, when one of the models who was eaves-dropping on our conversation said and I quote: "Who's Bill Wyman?" The look on Gurgal's face was priceless..

Looking back on it now, different times, different fashions, ways of dressing,
but I can't help thinking that the ladies were a damn sight more feminine than nowadays.

Don't ask me how I know, I just do..
