TV shows with topless scenes - Page 4

There are several postings on this thread referring to ‘Schalken the Painter’ as a program within the BBC’s ‘Ghost Story for Christmas’ series. Strictly speaking, although that fine program featuring Cheryl Kennedy’s only topless scene was shown at Xmas 1979 it did not form part of that series. The 8 programs in ‘Ghost Story’ ran from 1971-1978 (and were repeated in the 1980s).

However 2 of those 8 programs also featured rare topless scenes by other actresses. I have included a link for one of them below - the Xmas 1975 Ghost Story; this was ‘The Ash Tree’ and featured Barbara Ewing. She is probably best known in the UK for her portrayal as Agnes Fairchild in the 1980s C4 comedy series ‘Brass’. She has long been UK-resident but was actually born in NZ. She performed one other topless scene in an early program from the ‘Country Matters’ series shown in UK on ITV in the early 1970s. I will try to dig that out and upload it onto RS sometime. Incidentally I’m surprised not to see clips from other episodes of ‘Country Matters’ here – many showed topless scenes. Any offers from anyone?

The other Ghost story with a topless scene was ‘Stigma’ (1977). This includes the UK actress Kate Binchy’s only breast-baring outing. She is still going strong, currently appearing as Granny in the comedy series ‘Alastair Fury’! Again I will try to upload that clip sometime.

What a fantastic thread this is... an absolute goldmine of hard to find clips.

I look forward to the Lesley Clare O'Neill one from In Lambeth if available. I have tried to find something from this for years.

‘Stigma’, shown on BBC at Xmas 1977, is another in the 8-program ‘Ghost Stories at Christmas’ series to contain a rare topless outing by an actress. This features Kate Binchy in her only topless scene. Kate is the cousin of author Maeve Binchy. Kate must now be in her late 60s but no sign of retirement from acting yet. She recently starred as Granny in the TV comedy series ‘The Revenge Files of Alistair Fury’. Maxine Gordon plays her daughter in this program; she seems to have disappeared without trace after only a dozen shows as an actress.

Historical/geographical note: the prehistoric stones in this program are not props. They are at Avebury (in Wiltshire, UK). Avebury is a less well-known but, in my view, superior stone encampment to Stonehenge (also in Wiltshire of course). My neck of the woods in fact!

Dame Judi Dench is probably the UK’s most prolific and best-known TV and movie actress. She has won many awards (BAFTAs, OSCARs etc) with many dozen more nominations for gongs. Now in her 70s she is still going strong as an actress. She was created a Dame of the Order of the British Empire in 1988 (though an Officer in that Order since 1970). She has most recently appeared in the latest James Bond film ‘Quantum of Solace’. But enough of the facts.

In these clips Dame Judi kindly gets her tits out for the lads in her only true topless scenes. Extracted from the 1978 TV program ‘Langrishe Go Down’, shown as part of the series ‘BBC2 Play of the Week’. I particularly like the bit where she smears whipped cream over her nipples – that would go down a treat at an Oscars ceremony, better than these tearful thank-you speeches from actresses!
