Prom Night IV: Deliver Us from Evil (1992)
https://www.imdb.com/title/tt0105179/

only barely related to the previous 3 films, starts at prom night 1957 and two students are making out in a car when they are attacked and murdered by a priest out to kill sinners.
Thirty years or so later and four students choose not to go to the prom but spend time in the summer home of one of the students, meanwhile our deranged priest escapes and is on the loose looking for sinners to kill. No guesses where he decides to pay a call.

I hadn't watched Gettysburg for a good while. My memory of it in the acting stakes was Jeff Daniels being extraordinary, but what you said about Martin Sheen interested me so I gave Gettysburg another look last night. I am a huge fan of Martin Sheen but you're right. Robert Duvall was better in the role. Gettysburg is an infinitely better film but I didn't get a sense of Sheen's Lee being a man an army would follow with such devotion whereas I did get that with Duvall. Jeff Daniels was every bit as good as I remembered, though.

Gettysburg trailer.

The Creeping Flesh (1973)
https://www.imdb.com/title/tt0068424/

Peter Cushing & Christopher Lee star in a non Hammer horror gem. A scientist (Cushing) believes that evil is a disease of the blood and that the flesh of a large skeleton he has brought back from New Guinea contains it in a pure form. The skeleton also has a giant skull indicating a large brain capacity.
He keeps his daughter in the dark about her mother, a dancer in the Folies Bergere dancer who went insane, he believes she manifested this evil and he is scared the disease is hereditary and the daughter may have inherited it

He uses the skeleton's blood (it grows flesh when exposed to water) to try to immunise her against this eventuality but alas things don't go to plan she comes to the attention of a fellow scientist (Lee) who realises that she has been experimented on.

Lee believes the skeleton is the key and arranges for it to be stolen, however the thief bungles his task and his carriage overturns in the rain, exposing the skeleton to water ......

I've done "Father Goose" before... I really love that film'
Grant is very gracious in not overpowering Caron's scenes, but supporting her to go better.

Brilliant stuff for students studying Film.

....But I watched it again 2 nights ago... Love it even more.

...........
Last night in our non-footie desert, we actually watched ~ together

2012..... Cusack etc

Hilarious !
Good graphics and stuff, but,

if one plane escaping from a collapsing airstrip - looked good --- why do it 3 more times ?Only 8 or so years ago, but I remember reading the hype then and I wonder if those that praised it then, see it as a joke now?
I know we do..... but, it brings a family together don't it ?

Question

Rotten Tomatoes rated this film 100% Fresh?

Why?

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3NHAUPQZ1nE

Then there is the comment by RogerEbertDOTcom comparing the young actress debut to Jennifer Lawrence.

That's not a good comparison.

Avengers: Civil War (as it's expiring from Netflix UK soon). Feels like an extended wet dream for MCU fanboys not greatly troubled by a coherent plot, but perhaps I've set my expectations a tad high... (For the record, I liked the Iron Man series...)

Revisiting an old Marvel film

Man-Thing (2005)
https://www.imdb.com/title/tt0290747/

When employees of an oil tycoon (F A Schist geddit) start to vanish, as well as the previous Sheriff the new sheriff Kyle Williams investigates, the oil company suspect that the local ecology activists are somehow involved maybe along with a native American hiding in the swamp.
Williams finds out that a Seminole legend is responsible, the Man-Thing and unlike the comic this critter seems pretty indiscriminate in its attacks and victims don't burn due to fear, here they are just impaled on living branches emanting from the creatures body.

The only tie-ins to the superb comic series are a few character names based on the creators Val Mayerick, Mike Ploog and Steve Gerber

Ok as a monster movie but nothing really to do with the source material.

The Extraordinary Adventures of Adèle Blanc-Sec. A French fantasy film about the journalist Adèle Blanc-Sec and various assorted characters who get caught up in increasingly far-fetched escapades in 1910 Paris and beyond. It's a very funny and entertaining movie.
If only Hollywood would sit quietly at the feet of the French and learn how to make great stories.

Watched Solo - A Star Wars Story (2017) - Not as bad as I was led to believe. Since people know that Han and Chewie survive to be in the next film, I don't really understand why people said the storyline was too predictable. The Lando love interest - his droid - would have been funnier for me if she had some sexual characteristics, but that would have raised a roar from the snowflakes. So I didn't really understand his attachment to the droid as depicted. The deaths of numerous known actors/characters during this movie plot made it not so predictable for the non-Han/Chewie people, so I enjoyed the film. I am surprised that this film is said to have lost money at the box office. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Solo:_A_Star_Wars_Story
