Blues performer Matt "Guitar" Murphy died yesterday at the age of 88. He began his career at the age of 19 in the Howlin' Wolf Band and went on to perform in the studio and onstage with blues legends including Etta James and Muddy Waters.

Murphy was perhaps most well known for his appearance in The Blues Brothers as the co-owner of a soul food restaurant with his wife, played by Aretha Franklin. He also appeared in Blues Brothers 2000.

Although Murphy had suffered a stroke in the early 2000's he eventually recovered and returned to performing, including Madison Square Garden as part of Eric Clapton's Crossroads Guitar Festival.

An American film producer and personal manager. Produced many films including Scarface, Sea of Love, Venom, Serpico, Dog Day Afternoon, The Four Seasons, Betsy's Wedding, Carlito's Way, Rise to Power, The Bone Collector, and The Adventures of Pluto Nash. He died age 92.

An American journalist she was known for hosting WTTW-TV's Chicago Tonight program and also worked as a correspondent for PBS' The NewsHour with Jim Lehrer. She was also a World Champion Triathlete and she took the title in 2009 held in Sydney. She died in a bicycle accident age 76.

Don't know his music, I know more about his string of legal troubles and some other dirt. It's still really shocking, I read it as a drive-by, attempted robbery. Going out like that, it puts into perspective that anyone can die in an instant, from out of nowhere. Also, drive-by, that just brings Tupac and Biggie Smalls to mind. I also read he was apparently trying to clean his act up, starting some kind of foundation with his mother. Very sad.

I already forgot how I got to the video, but on Youtube, someone posted about this, 30 minutes after it happened, and the footage was similar to the one on TMZ. The big difference, there was no pixelation, so I find it really unsettling seeing the man's lifeless body, especially now knowing he died. Maybe that video should be taken down, part of that had some snapchat screenshot. The person who took that snap captioned it with "X shot." It maybe a minor thing, but I always find it creepy to just broadcast that. Taking a picture of even an unconscious body, sharing that on social media, why? Anyways, that's just me.
