Has to be Walter Payton for his life off the field as well as sporting prowess.
If I had a kid who said he wanted to be just like him I would say "You are white you silly bastard"

Jeetan Patel.
Warwickshire's New Zealand spin bowler.
The first player to claim 50 wickets in the County Championship in 2016, a feat he has achieved for the past 5 seasons, also todays 5 wicket haul makes that the 23rd of his career...

Thumbs up Raymond Jean Bourque

Phil Esposito retirement day

not quite a big deal, but i love how stuned Phil Esposito is, when Mr. Bourque put off "his" sweater to reveal his "new number"

Katarina Witt, 2 Olympic Golds, the 2nd under the massive pressure of government and Starsi scrutiny and the chance to work in Western show business, if she won. Would the Berlin Wall of fallen in 89, if her fellow East Germans hadn't seen the light of freedom she showed them.

A very strong woman indeed.

And a nice pair of tits.

Abebe Bikila, who won the Olympic Marathon in Rome 1960 in world record time …and barefoot.

He capitalized on this success to buy a pair of shoes, which helped him to improve his time by three minutes four years later for another Olympic victory and world record in Tokyo 1964.

It depends on which sport you are talking about.. Let's start with American Football and it's this guy Kansas City Wide receiver, Otis Taylor.. (Number 89 of the Kansas City Chiefs). He is most noted for being able to grab thrown passes out of the air.. One handed..

Now if you want Auto Racing, I got 3.. depends on which auto sport you talk about..

If it's Formula One , it's Sir Jackie Stewart.. This 7 time World Champion, is perhaps best known for the fact that he helped advocate for the drivers when it comes to the safety aspect of Formula one Racing (not to mention Indiy Car Racing as well). I you want a legend.. Talk to the scotsman..

Now in Indy Car, it's a three way tie, between A.J. Foyt, Al and Bobby Unser, and Mario Andretti.. Each was a lesson on hot to use cars properly and how to pull off multiple wins.. (and in the case of Mario, he took it to the F1 Circut, and back again..) But A.J. was the real Texan.. 4 time winner which lasted for over 20 years when it came to the Indy 500. He was not a fluke..

And Nascar? You want a legend? Richard Petty (Number 42) . This legend is because he was always what you call "The Lawful Good" of NASCAR Racing.. (Compare that to the Chaotic Evil that is Dale Earnhardt. Long live the king..

Golfing? Two answer.. Arnold Palmer and Jack Nicklaus. These two were the best darn professional golfers in the game.. And they didn't act like any of today's golfers...They were class acts...

And finally Horse Racing.. If you want a real hose.. Check out Secretariat.. This legendary horse wasn't a horse, he was a Pegasus and literally showed that when you let him loose he knew how to run.. Just look at the Belmont video and you tell me. He wasn't just a horse, He was literally lightning..

There are older Australians I've known over years who don't like "soccer", but they know George Best and like him a lot.

The guy that's on my photo here, Ayrton Senna. Why? Because he was a great winner and a humanitarian off the track.

Others that have also been my greatest sports heroes of all time include:

BASEBALL
Frank Robinson
Sandy Koufax
Nolan Ryan

FOOTBALL
Walter Payton
Peyton Manning
Lance Alworth

definitely Ayrton Senna. simply because he was a great champion and absolute master at driving in the wet. Certain current british drivers would do well to look up to him
