Things Noticeable this week - Page 1109

Have you noticed how much people rely on their electrical equipment these days, and they all need to be charged. Mobile phones, Ipods, Ipads, laptops, electric toothbrushes and shavers not to mention video cameras, camcorders and Mp3 players, and yet they never seem to last longer than a few hours.

Have you also noticed the number of larger electrical appliances like telescreens, video/dvd recorders and even your Sky+HD can't be turned off to reduce electricity and carbon emissions - it is amazing how one minute we are told to save energy and the next people are leaving things on standby...when will manufacturers realise that having a standby button on a television screen is wasting vast amounts of electricity. Some televisions put themselves on standby after 3 hours of non-use, and the same goes for your Sky box, unless you are watching a film.

Ha ha have you seen Boris Johnson's new hairstyle? He still looks a prat as he blusters about how London's roads will manage - sort that out before your hair Bozza!

Power bars that eliminate 'vampire' electrical drain are becoming the norm around here. They turn off all the power even for equipment in standby mode. Here's a short review of one that has some real versatility.

I have stains just like that on my suedette ceiling
