she was a darn talented actress... i will never forget her voice, sass and indomitable spirit... and... she had some killer legs for an 81 year old!

A great actor. He had a certain charm and still managed to get the right amount of sleaze that a good porno actor should have. A real shame about his death. His work will live on in places like this.

Simon Sheridan is reporting the death of Greg Smith, the producer of the “Confessions of a….” 70’s sex comedy film series, at the age of 69.

Very sad news, surprising as well, in a recent-ish interview he did for the Robin Askwith fansite, he still looked quite young and I’d never have guessed he was in his sixties. Outside of sex comedies Smith’s other diverse film work included the film version of Dad’s Army, the glam rock weirdness of Never Too Young Too Rock and a remake of The 39 Steps, plus further successes on Television and the West End. And of course he was also a one time Mr. Lynda Bellingham as well.

Sad, I loved the Confessions series and watched them all at the cinemas when they first came out in the 70's. I've got the box-set on DVD as well.
I met Robin Askwith once in New Zealand and had a chat with him about his movies, what a nice guy.

I've been getting the "Confessions of a window washer...driving instructor..." films off the satellite. Never heard of them until recently. Were they made by the same producers as the "Carry On" gang movies?

no but they were definitely influenced by them. The Confession films were an attempt to cash in on the Carry On bandwagon. The Confessions films set out to be raunchier, that's why they had nudity but most Carry On's didn't.

The exception to this rule being Carry On Emmanuel. This was the only 'naughty' Carry On. Obviously it was a skit on the arty softcore phenomenon that was Emmanuel, but mostly it was a direct response to the Confession films and their ilk which showed nudity and to which the Carry On films were losing ground.

on the whole there is a direct look and feel of Carry on in the Confession films..
