The home of the idiotic council that bought a shopping centre for millions whilst cutting essential services to the bone. Not only that, but managing to run said shopping centre into the ground. The customer lift has been knackered for months!

It's also got a town centre that's supposed to be being regenerated. This means building lots of new shops. The problem becomes obvious when you find out that most of the existing empty shops are still empty. Hence even more empty shops. It took these morons years to build a cinema, for decks sake!

It's clearly shitty, being run by arses.

Walsall is the only town I know with three Poundland literally a couple of minutes walk apart.

Primark had appeared the last time I was briefly there while Marks & Spencer closed. Will Debenhams go ?

BHS, C&A and Littlewoods each went as the who group closed.

Years ago I used to go for the Saturday market but that has shrunk.

Absolutely no reason to go ever again nor to Wolverhampton. Once it had the only TJ Hughes in the area and numerous other stores all now closed.

There's now two Poundland shops, as one closed down. It's not surprising there were so many, as the headquarters is just down the road in Willenhall.

The market. The market is now a joke, full of tat. It used to take ages to walk round and have lots of decent stuff in it, but now it would take you 5 minutes to go round If you could be bothered. The reason it's so crappy - the rent for the stalls is too expensive. Thanks, Walsall Council!

Debenhams is staying, which is about the only reason to go in the Old Square shopping centre (I use the term shopping centre very loosely).

On the other hand, there is a very good Art Gallery, which houses the Garman-Ryan Collection. Here's some info:

It's about the only bit of culture in the town, as we don't have a professional theatre or a music venue. Even Wolverhampton has that!
