I always used imagebam for many years and that was the only big problem with that host in the last year.. I just not have problems with the advertising because I use the adblocks. |

I'm "self-reporting" a problem here, hoping that some of you good people may have more experience with image hosts and know a better fix than I can manage.
I've been reviewing the alt-porn thread and found that a huge number of my posts from the summer of 2015 and forward into 2016, almost every one of them for more than 30 pages of the thread, have broken images. I've used Imagebam exclusively for this forum. Nothing prior to summer '15 is affected, nothing more recent. I've been reupping images before I realized the scale and the scope of the problem. This will literally take weeks to rebuild everything. Is there a way to send a "wake up" signal to ImageBam to get all the jpgs to display? Is this standard operating procedure for image hosts? It really makes sharing a whole lot less fun if we have to come back and redo everything every couple of years. Should I leave the posts alone until a newcomer asks me for the pics? I'm all for due diligence, but man, this is a chore... For reference, the next page I have to do is this one: http://vintage-erotica-forum.com/t14...ide-girls.html and it continues to page 225, possibly more beyond that...

I gave up on Imagebam because of all the lost images, and automatic filename changing problem they seem to have. So, I have been reloading to Pixhost since the Imagebam fiasco in June 2017. Pixhost has not been perfect, but no lost images I know of yet. Knock on wood! There's a thread in this section about pixhost.to (used to be Pixhost.org) http://vintage-erotica-forum.com/t33...ad-thread.html Many other picture hosts have threads in this section too. Most have some problem with them.

The problem is on all hosts
Its largely due to dmca takedowns for random pic sites by copyright owners which take out random pics in full set posts - collateral damage. Bottom line is we're sharing not creating a museum If we had our own server and were a private forum the museum concept might be a possibility |

I've been chewing on that for the past day. I like it: we're sharing, not creating a museum.
I'll reup when a user requests me to. Life's too short to be obliged to keep redoing the work I've already done, particularly when there's no evidence people are digging that deeply into less popular threads like the alt-porn one.

This thread explains much, thanks.
I haven't uploaded to imagebam in some time and have noticed many problems when trying to access pictures. I have a feeling the whole site is compromised and I'm reluctant to sign in over an insecure connection. I will have to find a new reliable host. |

Imagebam was having problems for about a year before they announced they would close and luckily was bought and kept open by new owners, I,m sure the new owners have a pretty big mess to clean up and are doing their best to do so.

Imagebam has a sister site imgbox which is https but its slightly different https://imgbox.com/ No registration required - tick adult / create gallery and you have loose pics & zipfile You need to keep your own record of uploading https://pixhost.to/ Alternate hosts as compiled / compared by deezer - feedback from numerous end users links to specific issues about hosts at bottom of post http://vintage-erotica-forum.com/t33...ate-hosts.html Hate to point it out but VEF is This forum has the same insecure connection because the owner chooses not to go down the ssl certificate / https route A good explanation of http v https Neither are totally secure - best to be vigilant and not complacent online as too many ways thought to be 100% secure have been exploited many many times Browser plugins & add-ons are a bigger issue than http/https debate They become vulnerable forget about being secure if you visit the wrong page. jdownloader2 returns offline files for imagebam links for the past week, manually opening individual links is ponderous.

Starting on May 16, I have been able to see imagebam thumbnails, but attempts to open the full-sized images has failed 100% of the time. This is what I am getting;
Internet Explorer browser: Google Chrome browser: - Anti-miner is running - No-Script Lite is running with imagebam added to the white-list (permitted) Checking several "Is it Down?" web-sites I am getting confirmation that imagebam has been on-line, and response time is OK. I have cleared my DNS cache, but am still having no luck. Any ideas? |
