If we had no problems with the homeless, aged infrastructure and education, I could see us being more helpful with illegal immigrants. However we have daunting problems that require more resources than we have available to fix the education, infrastructure and homeless failures that we have. So I would try to fix the problems we have in the US first and to hell with the problems of other countries, even if we did contribute to some of them. I would put the bulk of our resources into the education problems in the US, that has the greatest chance of returns. Infrastructure second. Fuck the rest.

^ Our biggest upcoming problem is the onrushing baby boomer bulge in the elderly population. Going to need a lot of money for that. Even the sacred military budget is going to have to be cut in order to fund all the old people infrastructure over the next 20-30 years.

I guess if some illegals swear an oath to serve as assisted living and nursing home aides and agree to be housed in a detentive school while they are taught fluent English and nursing home skills we could let them in.

The fact is, those that are let in are already being slotted for this type of work. Visiting a couple of facilities where some older relatives are living these days I see plenty of exotic black and brown faces about in the halls.

Thank God they still respect the elderly in those cultures and are coming from poverty stricken countries. Our kids won't stop texting for those wages.

...and don't forget China's "one child" policy, which now will have one husband and wife caring for four grandparents instead of 5 or 6 siblings sharing care. Its going to tax them in ways they never anticipated.

I think the "Little Emperors" will NOT be caring for the grandparents.

File this one under "be careful what you wish for":

There's a bloke named Andrés Manuel López Obrador running for President in Mexico. And like all good politicians, he's out on the campaign trail for the upcoming election on July 1.

Not surprisingly, earlier in the week during a speech he called for mass immigration to the United States calling it "human right for all North Americans". Continuing, he professed that "immigrants must leave their towns and find a life in the United States." According to him, this is a human right that he will defend. Obviously, the notion that this started long before his campaign is lost on him.

Obrador was previously Mayor of Mexico City. He's previously run for Mexican president twice without success. He's also on record for proposing amnesty for Mexican drug cartels.

He better be careful what he wishes for. If those remaining in his country decide to follow his advice and join their fellow Mexicans here in the States, there'll be nobody left to elect idiots like him.

I am not sure how to handle this mess. Historically, big time crime has been able to corrupt and co-opt the police and military forces directed against them. My heart is inclined to use our well trained veterans from the Middle East, Blackwater military contractors (i.e. mercenaries) or something similar with the oodles of Mexicans, Hondurans, Guatemalans, and Salvadorans who want their countries back to sweep through Central America and decimate the narco gangs. But until we do something to reduce the market demand in the United states, the problem will never be solved.

Harsh as it may be, the most effective way of fixing the problem quickly would be to stop using naloxone and let the addicts die rather than reviving them and perpetuating the cycle. My hunch is that addicts may decide they can live without their drugs.

Oops, this is so not politically correct.

That came to mind again when I just saw on the news here that Sarah Huckabee was asked to leave a restaurant in Virginia .... because she works for an "unethical" administration, If I was Trump I'd be milking that one big time .... and I'm no fan or critic of Trump.

Funny about the uproar over that, oh wait, NOT. Remember the baker-gay uproar??? Only those incidents that fit certain "news" criteria get played up ad nauseam.
Just for the hell of it I would picket that restaurant if I lived in the area.
