I understand that, but often times the Optional and Recommended type of Windows updates are preview type updates prior to the release of the actual update, and often times the reviews claim that those preview updates are trial version updates not yet perfected and may cause various problems to your computer.
I will typically install those named Important with only a small bit of concern, (and even those I often Google to check them out), but those named Optional and Recommended I proceed with caution.
Just because Microsoft issues and releases Windows updates does not mean that all of them are problem free or trustworthy.
Look at that update which Microsoft released awhile back which they named Important and sneaked in when promoting Windows 10 which caused that periodic irritating and nuisance popup for many moths for people to get/install Windows 10 free.
When I found out that update number I immediately went to the Recently Installed Updates list and got rid of that sucker! At least that was more of a nuisance update and not a problematic update.

Before installing any Windows updates, especially those which are named Optional or Recommended, I always Google them and read the reviews, and if there are any which are urged not to be installed due to potential operating problems they may cause I hide and do not install them.

I must now also Google the updates which Microsoft has cleverly gotten by me and installed, and if I don't like what the reviews have to say about them I must now go through the process of deleting them.
Microsoft has become a problem lately with their updates. Back in December they "accidentally" stopped doing updates for Windows 7 because some program or file involved in getting the updates automatically had an expiration date of early December 2017. The only way to get updates was to turn off the automatic check for updates.

Damn Firefox. An update went through just a few days ago and now whenever I look for any photo of anything on the internet that I may use to post on a thread the screen no longer has that box that allows me to click on it to get an enlargement of the picture which I then click on to save to my download file so it can be uploaded by an imagehost. Now for every photo there is this comment below the photo that says "this photo may be subject to copyright". I can still click on the photo, but it is not as large as it used to be. This is all because of that privacy nonsense that is making havoc of everything in America!

Its not necessarily the browser - in the past firefox have sneaked that copyright crap
in via firefox plugins - i just disable them with no ill effects

The search engines might have changed to protect themselves with the copyright message

Using chrome - Google images in the last day or 2 changed view image to save image
Chrome wasnt updated

left hand side pane with larger thumb saves as full image
- right click save as or open in new tab without enlarging

ps

Saved when used offers view saved

Which shows you saved images on google

Avoid right pane unless you want to visit the site

Friends children

There I am minding my own business playing rock music through headphones whilst reading comic books and I get a Facebook alert a friend has made a post, only to find their child who I remember as a nipper has now turned 30

I was quite happy living in a world of my own creation ignoring almost anything to do with age then mental arithmetic starts to kick in and I cannot help but start thinking about it.

Or I see someone outside and they say oh there's our son over there (who I remember as being aged 8) and point to a 6ft plus guy with his wife and their own child

I've decided I'm going to ignore all this reality nonsense and get back into watching monster movies

A couple of months ago I made the mistake of updating my Firefox when cued (as I would routinely do) and found that they had changed to a new version. I absolutely hated everything about it -- its appearance, its layout, and the fact that none of my add-ons and plug-ins were no longer compatible and no longer worked with the new version! Despite their claiming to have compatible versions when I tried re-installing them they either did not work properly/the same, or they would not install or work at all.

I ended up doing a "Restore your computer to an earlier time" (3 days back) and got back my old version of Firefox. After the process I believe that I did need to re-enable some of my add-ons and plug-ins, but at least they are all working properly again.
Firefox claims to gave added more/new safety measures into their new(er) version(s), but I have decided to take my chances and put my faith into my Kaspersky keeping me safe as it had done for many years thus far.
Firefox is presently up to version 58.0.2 but I am still using version 56.0.2. I do keep getting hounded with drop-downs from Firefox to update, but I simply keep clicking the "Not Now" box and close the drop-down -- which I feel is a small price to pay from having to use that junkier version of Firefox!
