I agree with most of your post hlsc. A touch bellicose IMO. Personally I think a lot of the "moderate" Muslim's are secretly at least semi-supportive of what goes on. Below is a link to page that correlates the % of Muslims in a country to how proactive they become. Now I don't know how true, valid, etc. it is but it does make for interesting reading.

Every man with common sense knows you can't win a defensive game. We should take the fight to them in a very unmeasured response. And any ANY country that stands with them forfeit their sovereignty and oil fields to the good guys forever.

What I want to know is why do politicians in Britain keep talking about radical islam when it doesn't even exist. There is no such thing as radical islam. There is only islam & the only thing that a muslim will tolerate is another muslim.

I seem to remember a time when wholesale persecution of Moslems was happening across Bosnia and on the whole we in Britain thought it was a bad thing. I still think it was. I am not going to sign up for any war others want to declare on the entire Moslem community.

Thats not the same thing as saying we should wait passively and let ourselves be attacked. It is time to reject false notions about free speech. Your freedom ends at the moment when you decide to endorse violence against me and mine; this is something which as a society we can only enforce by action. When an Imam makes a fiery inflamatory sermon demanding holy war against a named individual or forments anti-British sentiment, or expresses support for ISIL, the police should shut down the mosque and the authorities should demolish it and the tax authoriteis should confiscate its funds. The Imam himself should be forbidden to preach by court order and locked up indefinitely if he disobeys. Incitement to hatred and violence is not a legitimate freedom and we could do ourselves a lot of good by stamping on it, hard, whenever it crops up.

But this is not the same as going after anyone for the supposed crime of merely being a Moslem. We allow religious freedom because we require it for ourselves. It is against Moslem hardliners who openly oppose religious freedom for others that we should be concentrating our fire.

Joker there is radical Islam and there are those Muslims who stand by and allow it to go on. At least IMO. I believe there are even some Muslims who actually decry the radicals actions. They just don't do it in public. Until the supposedly moderate Muslims actually step forth and start to combat the radicals it will continue to devolve in to chaos and mayhem will continue to be the rule of the day there. Maybe from fear of retribution which does not excuse what I would consider moral cowardliness. As to Muslims only tolerating other Muslims I direct your attention to Iran, Iraq, and ISIS. They slaughter each other with random glee and joy.

Instead, a newspaper in my hometown has been attacked with molotow-cocktails for re-printing Charlie's caricatures in memory of the murdered caricaturists

This is the sentence I stopped reading your post. The silliest - and, history shows, most destructive - thing to do in a debate about militant extremism is to project whatever might be their rationale on an arbitrarily large group of people. In my experience it's never true, and fans up hate in too many people (many of whom may simply be afraid of the future).

Some other silly examples (not only concerning mil. extremism):

• All smokers are careless bums, who don't mind if their habit kills others.
• All Russians are homophobes.
• "When we let Poland into the EU, they'll steal all our cars."
• All women are just a bit dumber than men (scientifically "proven" 100 years ago by Broca).
• Most Christians secretly admire the Ku Klux Klan.
• Men with big noses are great in bed.

I seem to remember that too. The British government sent some 12000 military personal out there to stop the various sides slaughtering each other. Don't remember too many Imams saying well done.
