Hey guys, I have came across this interesting channel on youtube called, New Retro Wave which is features different Synth artists. Mostly Instrumental! I thought of this topic when I saw it.
Check it out http://www.youtube.com/user/NewRetroWave/videos It has some good stuff, but I wish most were actual songs with lyrics and good Vocalists. I can imagine how awesome some of these would sound with good lyrics sang by great Vocalists like Greg Lake, Jim Jamison, John Wetton, Michael Sadler, Mickey Thomas, Steve Perry and Richard Page.

Anyone familiar with Audacity, the free audio recording software from Sourceforge might like to try a free basic drum machine prog called Hydrogen that they've created.

For those who want to maul around with the likes of Eurorack and other analogue and modular synthesizers, there's a free bit of software called "VCV Rack"..:
https://vcvrack.com/ It's all based on Moogs idea of one volt per octave, and apparently the modules you can get for this behave almost exactly like their real world counterparts. |

As a guitarist I'd dabbled unsuccessfully with toy synths, I always wanted a set of Moog Taurus foot pedals, but I couldn't justify the cost. Anyway over the summer I joined a guitar forum and was suggested these.
Roland PK5 foot pedals, it is paired with a Roland Pro-e Synth. These items were originally designed to go together so I can control the drum machine with my feet whilst playing bass or guitar. And even play an accompanying melody. Does mean I'm a bit like Fred Astaire at times, but it's opened up my playing at home nicely. I mainly use it in 2 modes, Bass and Drum pedals or Guitar and Bass pedals.
