Well, I live in an apartment block, and it's well insulated. It has to be, otherwise everything would be frozen half the year. At any rate, when you switch to hot, the water is always hot, and cold is always cold

All the apartments have triple glazing, if you're interested in such details

I think our architecture might challenge your sense of logic. Here, if you want fresh air, you close the window, you never open it

Kevin here. In my building all the apartments have separate taps for hot and cold water. In the basement there is a gigantic tank that holds 300 gallons of water that is heated by a gas heater and then pumped up through miles of hot water pipes to all the sinks and the bathtubs(and showers). The cold water just comes from the main cold water pipe from the city and it flows into a computer controlled water pump. The outside temperature has no effect on the cold water. This is mostly true for all apartment buildings, office buildings, schools, factories and houses.

My hot water is cold water being heated by the warm ground temperature. The process of having a shower and towelling down seems pointless as you sweat so much drying off you ask "Why did I have a fucking shower in the first place?!"

Our apartment has the usual hot and cold water taps, but on the kitchen bench there's a third tap that dispenses always boiling hot water.
If yesterday's temperature was anything to go by, I suspect that very soon I'm going to be making whiny posts about wishing summer would fuck off already! Central airconditioning and double glazing is all well and good, but you have to so out sometime.
