Wow! $118 bn wiped of facebook's market cap in a single day. Zuckerberg's paper worth drops by $16 bn
Do I care? Of course not. But that is a bunch of money. It would finance Estreeter's weekend, if you wanted to know |

Edited my post and called the use of a word in its historical context a racial slur.

IN the Daily Mail this morning was a story about us Brits whinging about the weather from those lovely cousins of ours down under. Well here is the real reason. Our infrastructure and housing was never built to take heat away from it, rather to keep heat in with all manner of insulation against the harsh Winters. 1976 seemed to be a one-off but it should have rung alarm bells again in 2003 and 2015. Our Underground system was never designed with air-conditioning in mind which is why it has been so hard to implement, yet thousands of commuters will suffer temperatures in excess of 90+F to get to work. The air-conditioning for the Underground should be in place by 2030-so we are told unless a government withdraws the funding for it. So yes we do whinge about the weather with VERY good reason and it is up to architects and designers to get back to the drawing board and design something new for the future. Oh, and yes we also know Aussies suffer well over 40-50F in places, but you are used to it, we aren't and besides which we have to moan about something else instead of smegging Brexit

I might know what site you mean, and i have seen some grim stuff on there as well in those days (i can still hear the gurgling sounds from a particular clip, ugh). Curiosity or fascination for the grotesque. But not for too long, thankfully. |

It was me as a mod. Where I come from what you posted is a racist slur and you did not make any kind of statement that indicated any thing close to it being in a historical context. Which I may or may not have allowed anyway. |

Slow and vicious tortures, experiments are the worst. The worst barbaric scenes I've watched were made by humans on lovely or proud and beautiful animals. I still have some nightmares about them... 30 years later. |

Thunder rolling and rain erm sort of falling but hey, it's a start to the respite this country needed especially London. More expected, perhaps heavier later tonight. Downside is it might be too cloudy to see blood moon.

It's been a very pleasant summer in the West of Scotland - certainly warmer than usual but never much more than 26C. Usually it rains all summer up here. Last edited by otokonomidori; July 27th, 2018 at 06:22 PM.. |

WE keep building too many skyscrapers which trap the hot air and make it stifling. Perhaps we should consider building down or outwards with not so many storeys.
