The Republican Party and Donald Trump are in the process of sabotaging Obamacare completely. 3 million people lost coverage in Trump's first year. An additional 9 million are expected to fall off this year. With the lawsuits, the DOJ not defending the lawsuits, and non-funding of subsidies all of the folks with pre-existing conditions should lose coverage in 2019. That will bring the total to over 20 million.

Trump and the Republicans think they have won a great victory, but when you have canceled the health insurance of over 20 million people, most of them in Trump country, I wouldn't expect it to play well at the polls. The problem is that while the voters disapproved of Obamacare after all the negative rhetoric thrown at it by the Republican party, that has changed. Once the program was in place, and peoples lives were improved by the program, the poll numbers flipped the other way over 60% approval. How are the Republicans going to sell this as wonderful when the voters find themselves worse off than they were in 2009?

And its not going to be a gradual change. It is going to happen suddenly with the press and the Democrats in fuil “The Republicans took away your health insurance to give tax cuts to the rich”mode. The dumb bastards will surely go after Social Security and Medicare next..

Default Trump Kim summit: US president hails deal after historic talks

US President Donald Trump says his historic talks with North Korean leader Kim Jong-un that ended in a joint agreement were "tremendous".

The signed document includes a pledge from Mr Kim to rid the Korean peninsula of nuclear weapons.

But in an extraordinary media conference later, Mr Trump announced details not in the paper.

He said he would suspend US military exercises in South Korea, something widely seen as a concession.

So Trump is suspending US S Korean military exercises, wants to pull US troops out of S Korea and agrees with N Korea that the US has acted provocatively in the past - ? Are we going to pledge to sell S Korea only ammunition that are duds next? What for? A pretty much guaranteed worthless pledge that N Korea won't have any nuclear weapons in the future?

What a shitty deal the "expert" has made.

Fuck him.

It is really hard to get excited about a deal made by 2 guys notorious for repudiating their deals.

It's interesting that barely a week ago Trump couldn't do a deal with the G7 leaders- a group that includes the democratically-elected leaders of some of America's supposedly-closest allies, but now it seems he can do a deal with a psychopath who's in power because he inherited it from his father, and has executed members of his own family to stay in control of a Communist rogue state...

I'm not quite sure what this says about the great dealmaker, but I can't help feeling just a little worried by it...

Default So, DPRK is not a threat, but Canada is?

I hate it when I'm right.

I argued before the election why the U.S. (especially led by Trump) should not negotiate directly with the DPRK.

Trump just threw the ROK under the nuclear bus making decision and issuing promises without clearing it with Seoul (or Tokyo) first. This is exactly what Nixon did to South Vietnam in Paris.

Kim got his propaganda victory beyond his wildest dreams with the leader of the Free World publicly saying what a great guy he is.

Kim won and won big. Trump thinks he won, but he lost, and here's why. If the deal falls apart for ANY reason, Kim wins, he's had his moment on the world stage, and he can always blame America for the failure. If the U.S. backs out even for a perfectly legit reason Kim wins. If Kim backs out on the flimsiest pretext (or no pretext all) Kim wins again and Trump ends up looking like a fool. (well, more of a fool!)

This meeting was like Napoleon meeting Czar Alexander; he lost the moment he walked in the room. Just showing up was a defeat, it gave the Kim Dynasty what it's dearly craved for 3 generations, in exchange for a yet another dubious promise. The best analogy for what happened is Kim putting a gun to America's head and saying: "Say something nice about me, loud enough for everyone to hear! If you can't think of anything I'll tell you what to say."

*Longshot prediction Trump Organization will enter into a partnership deal with DPRK over that ridiculous monster skyscraper hotel in Pyongyang.
