However, no one's naive, and we know some information is not available for understandable reasons, such as open investigations etc There's always interest in "Who's the richest in the country" but this must be complicated to work out. When talking about this with a knowledgeable person, he said "Yes, they are the official numbers, but it's not the whole story. They are much wealthier" |

Noticed a new stage musical based on Only Fools and Horses is coming soon. It was written by Jim Sullivan, son of John Sullivan and Paul Whitehouse(The Fast Show) who will be Granddad(once played by Lennard Pierce) Problem is if you look at him as his Fast Show character Unlucky Alf he looks more like Lennard Pierce's character. The late Chas Hodges(of Chas and Dave fame) wrote a few songs for it.

Common sense prevails
The Supreme Court has ruled in favour of the cake makers in the ridiculous "Gay Cake" case.
https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-northern-ireland-45789759 It was made clear that the plaintiff was not discriminated against for his sexuality - it was the message the makers were being asked/forced to put on the cake to which they objected as a matter of personal conscience. My thoughts are what if it was a message promoting gun ownership or extreme right-wing politics? Of course any maker should have the right to refuse. I can't help but think this is the kind of frivolous shite that would only set back the cause the plaintiff espouses - people will lose sympathy and patience. There are other cake makers available - or you could just buy a basic cake and ice it your bloody self if it is so important to you! |

I agree,The cake makers are an unlovely couple of God botherers but they were in the right. It's their business,They have every right to decide which orders they take. The guy could have gone elsewhere butt He scented a chance to play the victim. Now there's 350,000 quid gone in lawyers pockets and the asshole still might appeal.

Not always straightforward to decide whether refusing service is within the rights of the service provider. In the case of the cake shop, I think the Supreme Court is right and I hope the plaintiff, so full of his self-righteous grievance, is made to pay all the costs. But service providers cannot automatically be allowed to refuse service.
A case in point was Constantine versus Imperial Hotels Ltd. The West Indian cricketer Learie Constantine had booked accommodation at the Imperial Hotel in Great Russell Square and was refused admission. Apparently, US military officers staying at the hotel objected to his presence - he was black, you see. The manageress of the hotel had denied under oath using the N word or refusing admission on the grounds of the N word. Lord Justice Norman Birkett ruled that she had said the exact words she denied saying under oath. He further ruled that her actions were unlawful and that no keeper of an inn, hotel or guesthouse can refuse to provide accommodation without just cause. This ruling was eventually made into statute as part of the Race Relations Act 1965.

This is from 1 hour ago.
You see where it says Panama City? I have a friend who lives there. We went to high school together. She couldn't evacuate. She has a mother who has Alzheimer's and dementia and is under constant bed ridden care. There was no way to put her in a car and go through this: (photo taken 2 days ago of one of the only two roadways North and Northeast out of the city) I am worried about her. 4 hours ago she says her power is out but she is still posting updates on Facebook. One of the only 2 roads North and Northeast out of Panama City also has a bridge over the waterway and that bridge has been officially closed for hours now. So she and the rest of the folks who didn't evacuate are stuck there. |

This is usually done by large chain shops-or shopping malls in the big cities in the case of recidivist offenders-but presumably could be done in a small village or hamlet with only one general store-where there would be real consequences for the individual thus restricted-would the law be viewed differently then?.....quite probably.. |
