Default Anyone here resell vintage magazines?

I'm curious about this. I search for PB on craigslist sometimes and among the listings, there are several local people spamming ads about buying vintage adult magazines.

I really can't imagine anyone under 40 wants to have physical magazines, so what's the business model here? Other than the "key" issues (early 1950s PB, first PH/oui/etc.), I think the prices of magazines are going to plummet in the next 10-15 years as more and more are sold at estate sales and fewer people want them. Who's going to want, say, a 1975 Genesis magazine except for a very small number of collectors?

What do you all think? Would love to hear from a reseller.

Mod edit.
Selling stuff is against the rules.
So no business please.

I'm not trying to sell anything and not looking to be a reseller, just asked a question out of curiosity. It was intended to be more of a discussion of the interest in physical vintage magazines in the future. If you want to delete my topic, go ahead, I don't mind.

The topic stays.
I just wanted to remind everybody that selling/trading stuff here is a no-no.
Talking about mag-prices and other stuff is OK.
Cheers and thanks for sharing stuff to you all!

I have the first issue of "Oui" and I tried selling it on Ebay for $10, then lowered the price to $7.50, and got no interest, and it's in excellent condition. I've recently purchased 2 old PB's and one old PH for less than $5 each, and they are all in excellent condition. No money to be made there if you're selling, and plenty of cheap availability if you're buying.

There are perhaps a few dozen volume resellers on the eBay US site; some of them have brick-and-mortar stores e.g. used book stores or comic shops.

Some advertise on CL to buy magazines and then list them on eBay to reach a global market - these are very difficult to profitably sell locally because the market is very thin.

A typical eBay listing for a vintage magazine might get about 25 viewers, with zero viewers in range of a brick-and-mortar seller.

Only the earliest/scarcest PB issues can be profitably sold on eBay because all other issues are ubiquitous and easy to find locally. CL is a good place to find PB back issues.

There are some exceptions to this though. Specific models who are still very popular garner a lot of interest even on the auction sites. I have seen Christy Canyon stuff rocket to ridiculous levels when 2 or more bidders get into a bidding frenzy.

The first issue of Perfect 10 with Marisa Miller on the cover is about $150 but is rarely available for sale. I remember seeing a stack of 4-5 of them in a Borders bookstore back then and didn't end up buying one. Guess they ended up in a shredder or a landfill.

Even the replica edition of PB first issue is on ebay at stupidly high prices. Again I saw that on sale at a Duane Reade around 2014 and didn't buy one since I thought it cheapened the real thing. Guess the lesson is if you see a porn mag, buy it

I have some classics; one with Keisha in it featured but the last two pages of that pictorial are actually Christy Canyon. I wonder if misprints go for much. Also, some real gems of SE, Candy & Uschi, VOF, etc. I was collecting for awhile and it was fun, but now could part with it all. Got some early Gents, Men, Stag, etc. plus like SE info booklet which is very thick. Never tried to sell on any auction site-no time, don't know what the margin would be, but a lot of my stuff could escalate I figure.

I sold quite a few on E-Bay years ago and some brought good money, one with Christy brought over $80.00,it was hard core.Victoria Paris always sold with pretty good money.A lot of the late 80's and early 90's stars were desirable. Then PP sent a lot of the money back to the purchasers because I didn't hit all the right buttons at the end of the sale and I lost the magazines, the money and the shipping. They can kiss my ass.
