Christmas Canine Fun
I don't know why but I couldn't help but laugh out loud at this first picture. Poor dog! I thought you might get a chuckle out of this too! Walkin' In A Doggie Wonderland (Sung to the tune of Winter Wonderland) Dog tags ring, are you listenin'? In the lane, snow is glistenin'. It's yellow not white, I've been there tonight, Marking up my winter wonderland. Smell that tree? That's my fragrance. It's a sign for wand'ring vagrants, Avoid where I pee, it's my pro-per-ty, Marked up as my winter wonderland. In the meadow dad will build a snowman, Following the classical design, Then I'll lift my leg and let it go man, So all the world will know it's mine-mine-mine! Straight from me to the fence post, Flows my natural incense boast, Stay off of my turf, this small piece of earth, I mark it as my Winter Wonderland. Thank you for all the great posts in 2012 for us dog lovers! Hopefully this next guy won't be visiting your house tonight! Merry Christmas! |

A few Xmases ago I got home to find my border terrier called Woody had managed to unwrap and get into a big round tin of Mingles chocolates that was under the Xmas tree. He must have ate half the bloody tin. Luckily he was being sick but was in a very poorly state so he had to spend the night at the vets, on a drip and fed charcoal to soak up the chocolate. It really was touch and go.
Best Xmas present I ever had was the following morning on Xmas eve when the vet rang up and said 'Mr dasduffer...you can come and collect your dog. He's pulled through.' Still brings a tear to my eye even now. He's 13 now and probably not too many Xmases left in him so here's my fav pic of him taken in 2004ish. Happy holidays to you and your dogs.

You are so lucky there. My brother is a pug lover and one year one of them got into some dark chocolate. Brought him to the vet but it was too late. Vet did what he could but I think he knew there was no hope. Apparently, it's the cocoa on chocolate that is bad for dogs...

This is a quote from WEB MD. "Chocolate is made from cocoa, and cocoa beans contain caffeine and a related chemical compound called theobromine, which is the real danger. The problem is that dogs metabolize theobromine much more slowly than humans, Denver veterinarian Kevin Fitzgerald, PhD, tells WebMD. “The buzz we get from eating chocolate may last 20 to 40 minutes, but for dogs it lasts many hours,” he says. “After 17 hours, half of the theobromine a dog has ingested is still in the system.” On a cheerier note, check out the handshake this dog offers up! |

.
If they come up with a breed that walks itself, that's my favorite dog.
