I think nuclear power plants are not so popular as they once were. The problem is that they take more than 10 years to build, and the radioactive waste they produce has to be stored somewhere underground, and it will stay radioactive for thousands of years, and the number of places in the world to store this waste is running out. The solution would be to develop nuclear fusion. That unfortunately could be hundreds of years away.

Don't know how long you've lived in Illinois but I spent quite a few years there back in the 60's and 70's. If you remember back then, Com Ed really wanted to build a lot of nuke plants and kept telling people that nuclear energy would be, "too cheap to meter". Haven't heard anyone say that since back then.

Still remember that after all these years.
