Hopefully this works. I like to crop all of my pics and resize to a standard pixel width and height depending on orientation. The opposing side ratio of the original is retained. For landscape I use a width of 1200 and portrait the height is 975. I crop the pics to remove all of the extra background which detracts from the subject. I also eliminate duplicates.
