Modern Brit Models and the no foof rule - Page 2

I've always had the belief that today if a model shows her 'foo foo' in magazines she's less likely to be able to get herself taken seriously and end up in tv. Back in the day the likes of Jayne Middlemiss (aka Marconi) and Gail McKenna turning their hand to tv work seemed a quite normal progresson; same with Linda Lusardi over time; as we only knew of their bush baring later; whereas today only those models seen to be the most tasteful pop up here and there on tv. Even some of the household names seem to have to continue to eke a few extra pounds out doing semi-nude low budget movie camoes; a la Keeley Hazel; while Jakki Degg used to be heard on late night 'talksport' radio show doing a quite funny feature called 'porn or bjorn'... I'll let those of you not familiar with this feature use your imaginations, though it's not so bad as it sounds...lol.

Agreed but I don't understand what's not 'tasteful' about full nudity in the right context. That suggests baring all might reveal something distasteful.

But we know that's not true, those nude pics of Linda Lusardi are beautiful, for example, possibly the best of her career?

Nowadays models seem to go no further than Page 3 or Lad Mag style boobs and bums shots, including on model's own paysites. I presume there must be a market for those websites? But it does seem to be a very British thing, perhaps as a nation we're more evolved in terms of feminism, maybe that's it? The wife will be pleased.

I do think it's a bit odd though, the more I see it (or rather don't see it), the more apparent it becomes, but maybe mainstream 'T&A' glamour of this type is the norm all over the world? It just seems very prevalent here in the UK.

The Conservative government which ruled Britain for most of the 1980s and 1990s not only refused to legalise sex entertainment as the rest of the world understood it, they made it much harder to obtain than it had been previously. And all while banging on about 'getting the state out of peoples' lives'. This hypocritical repression provided a suitable climate for the growth of the kind of puritanical feminism that had struggled to establish itself in the US. This is now dominant in the UK, across Labour and much of the media and has recently flourished under another Conservative regime.

One of the unintended consequences of this is the continuing interest in 'page 3' girls and other softcore stuff, which I think more 'sexist' than some of the things the govt. would like to ban.

I have mentioned this before in a different thread. I was led to believe that when a girl signed for P3 she had to sign a disclaimer stating "no full frontal nudity", granted nude shots of some models have appeared. I wouldn't be surprised if it were true though.

There was a certain hypocrisy on P3; as I've mentioned before Kristen Imrie's career there was trashed for appearing on the COVER (only) of a top shelf mag and she had to do a Communist Chinese style "act of self criticism" in the super soaraway. (Even though she had done plenty of shoots before) Yet Lusardi had done lots of leg spread shoots but was allowed to get away with it by claiming tearfully that she was tricked by an evil photographer. Yeah, about 12 times.. My first favourite (and indeed first woman I wanked over) was Gillian Duxbury. She posed for Penthouse under a fake name ("Billie Deane") as a brunette - was involved with Guccione and was nearly Pet of the Year. She spread her legs in magazines like Oui.This was glossed over for a S*n/Mirr*r etc successful career. So imagine my surprise recently when a Mirror pic emerged not only in her real name, but alluding to the fact that she had just been Pet of the Month! Talk about inconsistent "standards".

I do still ponder about this. I know it's not just restricted to UK models and there are exceptions amongst Brit models who do do this sort of thing (showing off their tuppennies) but I do wish for the day when one of those single girl only sites (you know the sort) features a girl who does rather than doesn't. They'd have me as a subscriber for life. Not looking for anything too explicit just a bit of full frontal (well, a lot, if I'm being honest). I worry it makes us look suspect as a nation if we can't enjoy some homegrown full on starkers adult art nudes... we've definitely got the girls for the job. Come on, make Britain proud!

I would love to see some of the current crop of P3 & lads mag girls showing everything. Even if it's with their thighs together, but leaving their front bits slightly on display, a slightly more tease element.

I do like slightly spread "lip" shots........but not the ones when the girl is pulling herself so wide open that you can see what she had for breakfast that morning...............

You can blame the government to a certain extent except previous generations did harder and the snappers sold it to Europe and beyond

Which leaves me thinking its more of career move to remain just out of reach

I always thought it was because being topless in Europe isn't as much of a big deal as it is in the U.S. more topless beaches over there, etc.
So in the U.S. we have mainstream models like Kate Upton who only strip down to a bikini like they would wear to the beach. But since topless isn't as big of a deal in Europe the mainstream models will show their breasts like they were on a topless beach but wouldn't go any further.
Everyone seems to see UK topless models as being to prude or shy to go full nude, but I see them as being more adventurous than U.S. models because they show their breasts. I guess it just depends whether you see them as nude models who don't show as much as U.S. nude models, or if you see them as mainstream models who show more than U.S. mainstream models. Does that make sense? U.S. lad mags don't show even show breasts.
