Easyjet will have no idea who sat where, but do check all the seat pockets between flights and will recover lost property if they can.
Also somebody else's Kindle isn't really a lot of use, as the owner will deactivate the Amazon account it's attached to very quickly. On the positive side my wife smashed a two year old Kindle a few weeks ago and Amazon replaced it with the same model for £40, which I thought was fair. |

I don't have a Kindle and am not sure of the workings, but if the account of a lost Kindle is deactivated, doesn't that just mean the new owner doesn't have access to the previously downloaded books? Don't they still have a piece of fairly expensive hardware? |

I don't think Amazon could remotely totally deactivate the Kindle, so you could still read 'free' books from other sources. This is why Kindles are not attractive things to steal. They are only fully functional for the legitimate owner. |

So, if you have a Kindle, Amazon have you by the short and curlies?
If in the future, Amazon decide that when you download a book, you also get a load of adverts ... tough! You couldn't just go and buy a different type of e-reader because you'd lose all the books you'd previously bought! Wow! Impressive marketing! |

Call me old fashioned but I like the smell and feel of a paper book

I got a kindle for my birthday, I still find it a bit odd to use. I prefer the real thing, but the kindle is great for traveling. My kindle doesn't have a light for reading in the dark, which is a pity.

I use a little clip-on LED book light on mine; it's designed for the real thing, but works great on the Kindle.

Well, Amazon just announced a bunch on new Kindles....browse on over there and check out the Kindle Paperwhite, which is like the regular Kindle (as opposed to the Kindle Fire) with a built-in backlight - the battery life is amazing. In fact they say it's designed to use the light all the time. I want one NOW.

.Amazon have shut down their discussion group. Reasons given; nothing credible. Real reason probably had to do with so many people sharing fixes for Kindle and I think they became so numerous that people looking to buy one and seeing all those fixes for all those problems would not want one for a gift.

Maybe you can answer a question for me?:
I liked my Kindle except I thought it was ridiculous that I could not get my updates for it thru my 3g cellular connection and cancelled all of my subscriptions. The Kindle sits upstairs in a desk drawer. Is it still the case that you can only get their updates via a wifi connection? (only answerable if you have the 3g version) I wanted to just turn the update notices off and they told me that was impossible; Is their a "fix" for that? What are the fixes that are going on; are there a lot of problems plaguing the Kindle? |
