Sorry to be picking nits on this one . . . . I live in cattle country, and we take our Stetsons seriously . . .

The cowboy hat in the "mystery" image has a leather thong tied under the model's chin, but has no discernible hat band (its probably just the leather thong). The brim appears to be crisp and un-wrinkled.

Here is a cropped version that I have lightened . .

I agree with the hat from the cover.
I downloaded all images from her site and found some details, which maybe helps.

This hat looks very similar to MG's hat. But I'm not an hat-expert like you.

This boots seem to be the same as in MG's image:

Earrings looks the same to me here. Not from the website, but from lancerboy's post:

Here are all the other images from her site, not for comparison, only because I had them to hand from downloading.

But if this was the "VEF Hat Identification" section, I would say it was a Smithbilt Cattleman in black felt.
