Finally got my weary arse in gear and went to see
The Amazing Spider-Man 2 (2014)
http://www.imdb.com/title/tt1872181/

I was initially put off by the previews showing a daft glowing blue Electro and a Transformers style Rhino but it was better than I thought.
I still think Electro and the Rhino sucked, Max Dillon would have been shocked at how he was abused here but scorn aside it was a nice touch with the birthday cake. The unnamed Green Goblin was better but this appears to be as the other Max says a precursor to a Sinister Six movie with a small group planning to take over the city.
Stan Lee has another great cameo and to give the movie its credit it features one of the defining moments of Spidey's career and doesn't wimp out.

Green Goblin, The Vulture, Dock Ock and hopefully Spidey kicks the Rhino's sorry ass out of the arena to make room for Mysterio, Sandman and Kraven.

Machismo: 40 Grave for 40 Guns (1971)

Dusty little Old West town is the setting as a group of Mexican banditos looks to avenge the deaths of some compadres. Grubby surroundings and D-budget production values are somewhat compensated for by some decent performances and a well-executed final shootout. Oh, and some frontier honies losing their clothes helped the cause. 5/10

Default The Birth of the Living Dead

Just watched the Netflix DVD for this documentary, thought it was pretty good. Didn't know that George Romero had done work for Mister Rogers (both being based out of Pittsburgh.)

IMDB gives it 3-1/2 stars, while Rotten Tomatoes has it at 95% right now.

Here is the 'official' trailer for the movie:

Big Time (1977)

Blaxploitation films have certain criteria; tough, strong main characters battling - or involved in - crime, drugs, violence, etc. Eddie Jones (Christopher Joy) is an insurance hustler, late on his rent, his car's about to be repossessed and he wears fake moustache extensions. Hardly faithful to the genre. By the time he gets mixed up with mobster money I had long lost interest. Only Jayne Kennedy's lovely presence kept this from being a complete waste of time. 2/10

The Scarlet Blade

http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0056963/

Non Hammer horror from the sixties, Lionel Jeffries playing June Thorburn's father, did not seem strange at the time, but they were roughly the same age and now makes it a bit odd.

Enjoyable romp none the less.

No Retreat, No Surrender (1986)

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=G2yhOjx-Uo8 (full movie)

Likely haven't watched it for 20 years. Being unable to choose anything worthy I bought a bottle of beer and run this video because of HD quality.
It's worthy of being watched. It gives you such a great feeling of the 80s with all the typical clothes, sayings and especially cool music. This movie rocks!!! 80s 4ever!

The Bermuda Depths (1978 TV Movie)

On the surface, there's not much remarkable about this story of a young man who, since he was a boy, has had repeated encounters with a mysterious girl at the beach. With the help of friend Carl Weathers and old salt Burl Ives, they comb the Bermuda waters in search of unusual marine life, which may have a connection to his past.

The most intriguing thing about it, apart from its title, is how fragments of it have remained in the collective memories of people who watched it as children. The IMDB message board for it has threads that are practically therapy sessions. It's not especially violent or tittilating, but the girl in question (Connie Sellecca) is rather haunting. Very unusual. But by itself, some 35 years later, the movie isn't all that interesting. 3/10

Thanks Almero. I never caught that one back in the 80's. So I watched it tonight and it did hit all of the right 1980's buttons.

In that spirit I bring all of you another slice of 80's American movie fun. Which I'm getting ready to start on Youtube as I type this. A slice of 80's cheese that is....Aw Hell! who am I kidding...This is a whole 80's stinkburger.

Never Too Young To Die (1986):

Youtube (full movie)

http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0091621

John Stamos before he was Uncle Jesse on 'Full House'.
Vanity before she got out of the entertainment business.
George Lazenby (James f'n Bond !!!)
...and...
Gene Simmons in a dual role as Carruthers/Velvet Von Ragnar (a transvestite)

It's fun, it's stupid and it's about as cheesy as it gets. Just remember this about seeing Gene Simmons in drag: What has been seen cannot be unseen.
