Personally, I plan on sticking with saturated fats - in reasonable quantities, of course. They are what occur naturally in the animal products we have been eating for thousands of years. That's also why they taste good to us, instead of tasting like chemicals. If saturated fats were real killers then there would be a lot less humans running about on the planet then there actually are.

Yep. I am sure we have some members here who are on the heavy side, and I would never presume to tell them what to eat, or go on a diet. Although I might encourage them to masturbate more, that is a good calorie burner.

I would not restrict the food itself, but the chemicals and additives put into the food they use to increase profit margins at the expense of the American public, reminds of what street drug dealers do to their product. I would also properly fund and staff the FDA to make sure the companies are following regulations.

1) People's metabolism varies. Some can eat enormous amounts and remain skinny. Others will tend to be pear shaped with the same caloric intake.

2) Most cultures have tended to value women with Rubenesque figures. As a result most human populations are genetically predisposed to look "fat" by the artificial standards of todays supermodels. Those models often appear to be selected by male homosexual fashion designers because their figures strongly resemble those of young boys.

3) Most athletes have a square type body that contains a lot of muscle mass.

4) Many people are healthier and feel better emotionally when carrying some fat tissue.

5) Americans strongly believe that individuals ought to be free to make their own choices and live with the consequences. We strongly dislike busybodies who meddle in others' business and seek to impose their beliefs and standards on others. The fundamentalists like to claim this is a "Christian nation," but even most Christians are firmly against imposing religious beliefs on others.

6) Freedom is impossible without its companion, responsibility. Many people are unclear that the agreement to allow maximum individual freedom includes voluntarily conforming to the laws enacted by our public officials.

7) Too many laws (rules) are counterproductive. Anyone who has dealt with children, and boys in particular, quickly learns that having too many rules causes children to tune out and begin ignoring rules. As a former manager and supervisor, it is my experience that human beings continue to exhibit this trait in adulthood.

8) Nobody made xyzde69 king or legislator in chief. Your opinion does not matter, especially in the United States. Please remember that many of us Americans own firearms and are known to get very cranky if we don't get our barbecue (lightly burned animal flesh) on a regular basis. Not lazy, that has nothing to do with it. I am simply saying, if you have a certain body type and you continue to eat for pleasure, then you must face the consequences. But it is their right to choose those consequences.

A man who tends to run to fat may fight that with all his will, living on tofu, carrot sticks, and mineral water. He may live then to the age of seventy, or past it.

Or, he may choose to indulge in all the culinary richness that life in this world has to offer, eating pizza, and BBQ ribs, and drinking good ale and single malt whilst having a roaring good time with his mates down at the pub. And in doing so, he may die young, perhaps even before the age of 50.

But those fewer decades he gets if he chooses to indulge leave him with a vastly richer experience of life then he would have had otherwise, living on rabbit food and in constant fear of the grim reaper.

It's HIS choice to make. Not yours.

Logically there is one and unique rule to follow:

I don't know how works your health insurance in the USA, but in several countries in Europe, everybody has to pay his own insurance and the price of your prime is relied to the costs of the global health system.

Here in Europe, fat people took money from the wallet of all the healthy citizen.

Well, here, with private insurance, you pay a higher premium if you are an "at-risk" person. If you smoke, you will pay a lot more per month than a non-smoker.

Since ObamaCare came in, there are lots of low-income high risk people now jacking up the rates, due to the "communal" insurance pools. I really don't expect this system to last, good-intentioned as it is.

We need some deeper reforms than just making private companies pick up the abandoned folks.

I still don't see where you get the idea that you can dictate lifestyles for people who are overweight, or are at risk for that. Some people are going to get fat. And ALL of us are going to get old. Are you going to start triaging the old people too, to save bucks on elderly care?

"You, old man, you have arthritis, you will be issued a wheelchair and a ration of 20 Oxycontin pills per month."
