I'm one of those "idiots" who has stated that they won't be watching Doctor Who again whilst there is a female Doctor, and I stand by that. There was no need for the writers to come up with the ploy that Time Lords could change their gender on any particular regeneration.

Coupled with the on-going gay references (which reached its peak with the last series and the introduction of Bill Potts), stories bashing "capitalism", and references to God being a "she" in one story, the Doctor becoming a female is now the pinnacle of the writers' agenda of the Doctor being an SJW, ie Social Justice Warrior.

I know it is a small sample, as of 7/25/2017, but surprised to see Tennant on Baker's heels.

I will give the new Doctor a chance. I do think the injection of politics into the show for the sake of politics and not to drive a story line is hurting it. The BBC seems to be making the same mistake AMC did with it's top show(s). We will do whatever we want, make the fans wait and water down the quality and there will be no consequences.

Whether this actress is good or bad I hope it doesn't sink the series for good.

If the series does sink, it won't be on Whittaker, but on all the troglodytes who know The Doctor's gender fluidity is a commo, pinko, politically correct plot. Maybe by the same cabal of evil scientists who are behind the Global Warming hoax.
Sometimes I feel the urge to carry a sign saying 'not nearly as fcuking stupid as all the other mens out there!'

Perhaps the gender pendulum is swinging a bit to far in the female direction.
Fair-minded ladies everywhere should follow the PC example set by the lovely T*ylor Sw*ft (brace yourself ) :

I'm not a fan of the show, but I must say that all this nerd-rage over the new Doctor being a woman has me smiling inside.

These bullshit-mongers will never realize how their anger only makes a female Doctor HUGELY RELEVANT

And isn't the Doctor a sexless alien anyway? The show always appeared to me to be a thinly disguised soap opera or romance, which just makes these angry he-men even more silly to me

Ah, people are dumb.

I'm a lifelong Doctor Who fan (from early Hartnell stories) and transgender!
A female Doctor is definitely a step in the wrong direction. The show was never about gender and sexuality. It was about being exciting and scary, but it hasn't been any of that for a very long time!

If the show was never about gender and sexuality, then I don't understand why you have a problem with a woman playing the Doctor. You're contradicting your own argument!

Perhaps my memory is playing tricks on me, but I cannot recall sexual and gay references being prevalent in Doctor Who prior to the Russell T Davies revival era.

It was, and I thought the current writers were still looking to make it, a sci-fi adventure show about good versus evil. Alas, I don't think it's just that anymore.

Nothing wrong with reflecting the way things have changed in society. Things were a bit different in 1963 you know!

Have things really changed? At least, in the representation of a show's/films series' brand? I expect sexual references or the odd gay (Pussy Galore, anyone?) reference to be prevalent in a James Bond film, or a Star Trek TV episode or film (James T Kirk can be quite the lad at times), even one made back in the sixties - I don't really expect it, or want it, in a Doctor Who episode/season.
