A test match can't be won on the first day. But it can certainly be lost.

Well that was a disastrous first day for Aussie fans. Any more of this and I'll be totally gray or bald by the end of the match.

Ok so watching my first good session of the ashes so far and one very important question; Lotta empty seats and i'm pretty sure in England it's full all the time for the ashes so what gives Australia? Also some of the Aussies have half their faces covered in sun cream, why not put a balaclava on?? England 53-1.

Another error by Strauss. He needs to concentrate a lot harder. But otherwise not a bad days play from an England point of view.
Another good innings from Cook who looks as though he's beginning to turn into a class opening batsman. KP looks as though he's regaining his form following his innings at the Gabba. Third days play is going to be interesting. The first session is going to be important for both sides. An early wicket will give Aus. some hope. But if England get off to a good start then who knows what their final total will be. |

There were doubts about Cook earlier on.It's about time Peterson had a decent knock, he's seemed to get himself in and then out again!
An English record by the way - Cook has been 1022 minutes at the crease since last out. |

I fear the Australian team is not as confindent in their ablities as they used to be. So would you if you played a top team and beat them, only to find out the opposition was paid to loose??? I sure would be! I saw some of the newspaper articles on the Pakistan pay offs and the questions asked about the Aussie team and if they were really that good to win.
Anyway if the poms win the Ashes it would prove the Aussies are rattled about something. It's going to be a long summer down here and since the lobster/crayfish season has just started I'd rather be fishing. |

Well, regardless of current form it's just good to see England not doing their usual "thing" of getting some score to start with and then losing eight wickets for thirteen runs.....
Interesting so far... |

A safe & steady start from England so far. Oh & Pietersen has just got a century.

Pietersen looks like his old self again-213 not out and treating the bowlers with contempt. This is not what the Aussies want to see :-)
