He is known through the cricketing world as "Bumble" due to the similarity between his facial profile and "Bumblies", characters of Michael Bentine's children's television programmes, apparently.
Mervyn Hughes moustache, would frighten most sane people. |

As a South African, I can happily say that I am enjoying watching our boys whip Aussie hide. Straussy, KP, Trotty, Matt Prior... Hehe.
Seriously, I think both SA and India are better test sides at the moment, but I agree with some previous posters that an Ashes series always creates excitement. I think England clearly have the edge in terms of talent, and their performances in the last two matches has given them something that they have not had over the Aussies for years - a clear psychological advantage. All that remains is for them to do what the Aussies would do is the boot were on the other foot - retain their focus, keep the pedal firmly floored and sock it to them. If they do this and twist the knife further, they can continue to inflict the sort of crushing blows that can cause major trauma. And by golly would I like to see Ricky Ponting in particular put under the boot - before he is given it by the Aussie selectors.

I hope whoever gets the nod surprises me and delivers a fine performance; however none of these three would get my nod if Graham Onions was fit.

I'm sure he could still strangle folk with his moustache if he still has it....(Poirot would be jealous) Good to see England having a grip and taking the fight to Oz without the trademark weaknesses. It seems as though we're finally amassing a decent squad where even if individual players are going through a rough patch the whole team doesn't deflate as a result. |

Justin Langer reached Black belt in Zen Do Kai, so he is probably our go to guy for the fight with Botham. Botham would be a good brawler, good in close with his strength, and deadly with a broken beer bottle, so Justin would need to keep upright and outside Botham's reach.

A fine bowler, watched him at Trent Bridge in the last county match.Unfortunately Notts. lost. Annoying as Broad and Swann were watching from the pavillion but not allowed by ECB to play. |
