I like your idea - and you are right, to do nothing is the worst case.

I had a look at some image host sites earlier today and they were unsatisfactory. One lacked thumbs, another had thumbs but they were not proportional (i.e. cropped "square").

I know mods don't want the effort of maintaining a list of "approved" image host sites, but it would be pretty useful to have a list of some that meet vef's basic criteria: bbcode, 180px or smaller thumbs & preferably proportional, gallery view... what else am I forgetting?

@deezer: sadly erdnus is deceased, but Pepper II has helped maintain at least some of his very many posts.

OK,

Now, at the time of me posting this none of the Admin team have been logged on and probably have no idea this has happened. Trust me , they will have a lot of input and something to post within this thread.

Anyway, there's no point in taking a negative attitude, for the time being we have no answers, real solutions or perfect advise other than if you wish to continue posting find a non spammy non cash image host until we get some better direction after the entire staff have had a discussion. we will be reading this thread for members feel and vibe, you can count on that as it is valued.

I'm rather tired downloading picture sets just to see that one pic is missing.
How about finally saying goodbye to image hosters and upload packed picture sets?

Even if some of the veteran uploaders will pack all there pics that pack will surely be smaller than Blurays that are uploaded for other boards.

One site that I've now successfully tried is called pixxxels.

It seems to be part of the same organisation as the postimage site, but whereas postimage does not permit "adult" images/porn, pixxxels does--postimage recommends pixxxels for such.

I checked it, but do they create galleries? And, the thumbnail size is a bit small (150x112).
Since ImageBan and ImageBox are shutting down, the only available host is Imagevenue now, but every poster here is perfectly aware of the main prob with it, they use to lose (or delete, I don't know) too many thumbs and that's a real pain in the ass.

I saw Imagebam will showdown its downloads from now and I decide to switch all my Imagebam posts into Imagevenue's.

Lot of work to do : thousands of posts!
