It seems to me that the bulk of people involved in porn are Jewish or Italian. Not at all casting any judgements, but can anyone illuminate me as to why this is. Incidentally, I'm just going by previous posts and by what I've read.

This statement may have been true years ago, and I will give my thoughts on why further down.

I think that the current crop of porn stars (esp.females) are more likely to be white and from the lower echelons of society.

Back when porn was just coming onto the national scene it may have been true that a greater percentage of the actors were immigrants. Why? Maybe it was as simple easy economic gains. But I think that the American immigrant population as a whole was not as bound by contemporary social morays as was the WASP demographic. And so they had no real big issues with porn specifically and their sexuality in general.

Well the stigma of doing porn seems to have faded - and now we can enjoy watching people of all races, colors and creeds banging each other.

An interesting thread; my understanding of the issue--gleaned mostly from an article in The New Yorker about a decade or so ago--indicates that a lot of Jews were involved at the outset in the distribution of porno, but not necessarily in front of the camera. Jamie Gillis, Jerry Butler, Harry Reems, Ona Zee, Gloria Leonard, and Nina Hartley are notable exceptions, but they're only exceptions--if you start to really think about the dozens of people active as porn stars in the 70s & 80s, you'll glean how few of them are represented in this list.

Two more recent stars whom nobody has named so far but are definitely Jews: Daphne Rosen and Naomi!! Both of them have definitely done their fair share to revive the celebrated and storied "Black-Jewish alliance"!

And one name that has come up often in these discussions as a "definite maybe" is Zara Whites, who as you can guess is my own personal favorite. I own her autobiography in French--I've posed a few language queries elsewhere on the forum while reading it--and she makes no mention of being Jewish or having Jewish ancestry. She also states that she was married in a church and I think her child or children have been baptized. So for better or worse I would suggest moving her to the "not Jewish" category.
